Wall for thee, none for me

U.S. to spend millions more on border security. ...For Tunisia

A wall on a border? That's ridiculous. Everyone knows they're racist, they're isolationist, they're too expensive, and they ultimately do nothing but show your own intolerance of other lands and peoples. That's if you're the United States, of course. For the rest of the word, walls seem to work pretty well. Tunisia has placed a barriers, walls, watchtowers, and moats along roughly 50% of its border with Libya. Considering the mess next door, and recent terror attacks, they're understandably concerned about keeping the threat at bay. Surveillance is expensive though. So, of course, American taxpayers will be footing at least part of the bill.
As AFP reports:
The United States has agreed to fund a multi-million-dollar project to install an electronic security surveillance system on Tunisia's border with strife-torn Libya, the US embassy said Friday. In a statement, the diplomatic mission said that the US was disbursing the first installment of the $24.9 million project to strengthen security along the frontier. ...According to the embassy, the project involves the installation of an integrated surveillance system using sensors and regular security equipment. The project includes training Tunisian forces to use the system, the statement added, without giving a start or completion date. Tunisia has built a 200-kilometre (125-mile) barrier that stretches about half the length of its border with Libya in an attempt to prevent militants from infiltrating.

Of course, Libya is "strife-torn" in large part because it was on the receiving end of Obama and Hillary’s illegal war. You can therefore make a compelling argument that it's our responsibility to protect Tunisia from the disaster they created. Besides, when you've run up a debt as big as Obama's, another $25 million really isn't the issue. The irony is that an administration which is resolute in its refusal to do anything to shore up our own porous border is burning taxpayer dollars to help a foreign nation seal theirs.
