ACLU, Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

What is it about the Image of Jesus that threatens today’s authorities?

Jesus ChristWe the people--not just the Americans but free people everywhere--are going to have to rely on memory and imagination for any link to Jesus Christ. Politically correct minions out there trying to score brownie points with the enemy are trying to force any vestige of the Son of God from the human radar screen. Just like in the days of the Romans, it is against the law to honour Jesus when world Caesars demand that honour for themselves.

Latest to join the rights-destroying ACLU in the United States of America is the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) officials, who have announced a ban on "any decorations in HUD housing complexes that mention Jesus or represent religion for the Christmas season". In other words, the federal government of the United States of America is banning Jesus Christ. (Update: 11/10/07: HUD Rescinds No Angels Policy) This time it's going to take more than a full season of Fox News' Bill O'Reilly lamenting the loss of Christmas. To their credit, it didn't take The American Family Association (AFA) long to respond to the ban with a petition drive to overturn the decision. But piecemeal responses are not going to cut it anymore. In every nook and cranny of the globe, Christianity is under attack. Patriots in every country where the politically correct march is goose-steppimg over the masses are going to have to take a loud and collective stand. Governments can legislate and tax you, but they cannot legislate your religious beliefs. This latest issue of banning Christ for Christmas arose at the Plant City Living Center in Plant City in--where else--Florida. The system moved in on an 85-year-old identified only as Mrs. Arnold. Mrs. Arnold was told that "federal law now prohibits her from displaying anything that references religion--words, decorations and the like--in the common area of her apartment building, a soulless, politically-correct-strapped HUD "facility". According to the center, HUD has issued a directive banning "any religious symbols or religious words associated with Christmas", which effectively prevents the Mrs. Arnolds of Small Town, America from placing a small Christmas tree outside their humble doors if it contains any religious symbols or words--"even an angel", as AFA said in a special alert asking for emails. Why are nameless, well-paid bureaucrats allowed so much latitude designing laws that cannot help but demoralize little people? The building at the heart of this latest controversy has about 40 one-bedroom apartments for seniors who are at least 62 years old. If the residents want to have a Christmas party in their community room, they cannot call it a Christmas party. "The Center says HUD directs residents not to use the word 'Christmas' but to use the word 'holiday'," the AFA advisory said. Some 'holiday' when it's not cheered by any of your own long-held traditions! Notice how when bureaucracy comes steamrolling around to crush human spirit, it goes into an ultra safe area where people are more likely to be plagued by failing health and where living on fixed incomes leaves little room for mounting resistance? What is it about the image of Jesus Christ that so threatens today's authorities? We live in a world where teens now have easy access to "soft porn" through their cellular telephones, but the government's priority is banning Jesus? Wouldn't the authorities' time be better-spent keeping drugs out of inner city tenements and working to stop the sex slave trade from kidnapping children and women? We allow our athletes to perform in an Olympics in a Communist country, which bans bibles and followers of Falun Gong. The system is traveling backwards and what you get with backwards is a society that once fed Christians to the lions. There is only one way to stop the march of the politically correct who prefer a pagan Christmas, and that is to stand right up to them, armed with a simple MYOB (Mind Your Own Business) Clause. There are few symbols as innocent as angels; few words as beautiful as "Merry Christmas". To untold millions the world over Jesus Christ is the true Prince of Peace. Next time the bureaucrats send a memo your way, send it straight back to them with two words: "Merry Christmas".
