When Something Hurts

Franklin Graham pulled a “Lincoln” by using an economy of words to take down the actions of President Obama. “I do know that the president defends Islam and chastises Christians, rebukes our allies and befriends our enemies, and fully supports gay marriages and abortion but denies the religious freedoms of those who don’t agree.”

Graham continued, “Our nation is ridiculed abroad and morally crumbling within. We are in trouble. We have turned our back on God.” Franklin is far more outspoken on political issues than Billy ever was—but one can understand that he is hurting deeply when he witnesses what is happening to America. In fact all deeply rooted conservatives are angry, heartbroken, dismayed, and bordering on hopeless when they see the results of the last election being squandered by elected officials who wet their pants when Obama breaks a new law seemingly every day! Reverend Graham brings up issues that directly spit in the face of God, namely gay marriage and abortion and the denial of religious freedoms. Unfortunately, too many who call themselves Christians are really Christians In Name Only (CINOs). They shrug shoulders and embrace the world instead of the God of the Holy Bible. And Christian liberalism isn’t some new fad on the American landscape—it’s been walking hand in hand with political liberalism, socialism, and communism for a hundred years. By denying the very Truth to which Christ came to testify, this cancerous form of Christianity has attempted to alter, ignore, and outright deny the word of God.

We may not be a “Christian” nation in demographics, but it wasn’t many years ago that the church actually had an influence on the culture and on politics. There has always been a conspiracy to silence the Son of God and an attempt to make the singular claim of Christianity—that it alone holds real truth—as some fairy tale only right wing nutjobs would ever believe. Authentic Christianity must awaken to proclaim the truth. Until Christians get angry, heartbroken, and dismayed at the concerted effort of certain politicians, liberal churches, news organization, Hollywood, and the political correctness police to marginalize Christianity, the church will continue to lose ground. Committed Christians must stand with the truth and fearlessly express it with the same passion that burns in their hearts for the return of American values. Graham is not using hyperbole when he states, ““Our nation is ridiculed abroad and morally crumbling within. We are in trouble. We have turned our back on God.” We who are counted among the faithful will be judged by what we do in the face of this assault on God. We will also be judged by what we don’t do!
