Why Trump Has to Pick a Female VP

Less than one week out from the Republican convention, it appears from leaked shortlists that there may be no female contenders posed to become Trump's vice presidential pick. In the media-hyped and extremely protected world of Hillary Clinton's candidacy, the only positive she offers millennials seems to be as the female gender's first real shot at the most powerful position in the world. Feminists are firmly positioned to stick-it to America with Ms. Clinton -- an irresponsible, inept, bitter, sneaky and vengeful matron of the first order.
The conservative goal is simple: choose the best possible contrast to Clinton--a competent, kind, honest and experienced female. Thus leaving liberals with absolutely no real issues on which to campaign and the gender card cannot be played. Presumably, conservative leaders would choose a female who could contrast dramatically to Clinton's sordid behavior as the queen of email and the Czar of Benghazi. It is hardly a stretch to contend, as Trump does at nearly every fete, that Ms. Clinton is quite possibly the most incompetent, unethical politician to have held the Secretary of State position. Some Republican consultants argue a female choice would merely engender the criticism that Republicans are pandering to women. However, it is hardly pandering to select a relatable vice presidential candidate and quite evident how much Trump already respects women based on his legions of supportive, female employees and attractive wives. Where does Trump really need the help? Impressing young voters with a forward-thinking, younger candidate. The undecided 18-22 year old, female cohort will be giving great attention to the VP selection. They are not, as liberals would have you believe, waiting breathless to cast a vote for an old, scandal-ridden female merely because she was the castaway wife of a serial sex offender (i.e., President Clinton). The word 'phony' is often on the lips of the younger female generation, and the current polls suggest they have little regard for Ms. Clinton's serial lying and creative ways of working to become the world's richest speechmaker.

However, to win, Trump's numbers need to move upwards with younger voters. The undecided, millennials will cast votes based on the VP selection. To the younger generation, the president represents their parents. The vice president exists, at least subliminally, as a portent for the future of America. In a political culture where the Republican Party is literally seen as the anti-woman party, Trump needs to give liberal-leaning women (i.e., most American women) a reason to vote for him. It is easy to see why younger women may choose to stay home during this election cycle. Despite our egalitarian society in the 21st century, there are very few female role models for younger, independent women. Trump can change America's aspirations for its women by choosing a competent female conservative. In this regard, consider talk-show host Laura Ingraham as Trump's potential running mate. She is a solid conservative with a tenacious record against illegal immigration. Ingraham also would be a terrific role model, as a very successful business woman, Christian and military supporter. Additionally, she has walked the walk of a pro-life advocate with the adoption of her three children from Guatemala and Russia. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and a law degree from the University of Virginia. She is the author of a number of New York Times bestsellers, a former defense attorney, President Ronald Reagan speech writer, and frequent stand-in for Bill O'Reilly on Fox News.

Ingraham complements Trump well: Protestant v. Roman Catholic; multiple marriages v. single; NY powerbroker v. Washington, D.C. insider; 70 years old v. 53 years old. Both charismatic speakers. Both with their own panache and experience handling the liberal press who will, undoubtedly, throw up an intricate presidential gauntlet for the Republicans to run this fall. Inspiring, successful and with a huge following from her nationally syndicated radio show, Ingraham would be able to campaign and rally large audiences on her own. She requires little introduction. More importantly, once ensconced in office, Ingraham would be the perfect whip for Trump's agenda. She knows the congressional players, policy issues and language possibly as well as any conservative woman living in Washington, D.C. and has the same legal training as most legislators. Ingraham would likely also be well-positioned to break the Democratic Party's stronghold on the female vote. As a cancer survivor and hard worker who made it on her own, Ingraham has a powerful message for young millennials who struggle to pay for college and land professional jobs while searching for true love. She is a single mother with a passion for life. Young people, men and women from all walks of life in America, need a champion for a merit-based system as they have been schooled over the last two decades to submissively accept mediocrity for the sake of social engineering. Cruz conservatives and anti-Donald Trump Republicans should embrace Ingraham as well. She clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Her selection would, hopefully, quell their concerns about future Supreme Court picks and adherence to constitutional law. Britain is poised to select Theresa May as its next Prime Minister. The Republicans can ride the current international, populist wave that paints conservatives as forward thinkers who embrace women as leaders in policy-making. In the unlikely event that Trump could not finish his presidential term, it is easy to envision the dynamic Ms. Ingraham enforcing congressional legislation that requires illegal immigrants to leave the country with a 30 days' notice, after which time they would be deported and their assets forfeited. Unless conservatives in the Republican party start doing something about the immigration issue -- pretty much all other issues are irrelevant, as our children and grandchildren will not be growing up in a safe, independent and unregulated world. Trump's success in November depends now more on the female voter than any other voting bloc. Older Americans, male Americans, conservative immigrants, moderate Independents and patriots of all stripes are sold on the Trump message of a strong, sovereign America. Younger voters need a vision for their future--the prospect of beautiful Laura Ingraham campaigning alongside deal-maker Donald Trump, and its contrast to the current Democratic candidate, could hardly be more dramatically compelling.
