Democracies must not Kill the Messenger
By Diane Weber Bederman Thursday, August 6, 2015
I recently watched the movie “Kill the Messenger” which was released in the fall of 2014. It’s the story of journalist Gary Webb who in 1996 began looking into links between Nicaragua’s drug-running Contra rebels and the CIA. He published his findings under the title “Dark Alliance” in the San Jose Mercury News in which he submitted that a US-backed rebel army in Latin America was supplying the drugs that made their way into some of Los Angeles’ poorest neighbourhoods. More importantly, he tied the CIA to the drugs. “For the better part of a decade a San Francisco Bay Area drug ring sold tonnes of cocaine to the Crips and Bloods street gangs of Los Angeles, and funneled millions in drug profits to a Latin American guerrilla army run by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.”
Tapper grills Earnest: Seriously? No one at the WH has seen the Planned Parenthood vids?
By Robert Laurie Wednesday, August 5, 2015
If you’re even a casual observer of current events, you’ve probably seen the gruesome Planned Parenthood videos. If you’re a reporter, blogger, commentator, or just a regular person who follows politics, you’ve definitely seen them. Given that fact, its a safe bet that someone whose day-to-day life is 100% tied to the 24 hour news cycle has seen them. Let’s face it, if everything you do is about handling various sectors of the news media, you have to know what you’re talking about, right?
Apparently, no, that’s not right.
Geraldo Rivera explains the position of liberal Jews toward Iran
By Arthur Weinreb Thursday, July 30, 2015
As much as can be generalized, Jews have traditionally been liberal. This can be explained by the fact that Jews have been persecuted throughout history and they tend to identify with people and groups that are or appear to be marginalized.
With the rise of the new anti-Semitism on the left under the guise of being anti-Israel but holding Israel to a different standard than other countries with serious human rights abuses, it is hard to understand how liberal Jews can still support the left. This has become more apparent with the agreement reached with the United States and Iran that pretty well assures the Persian nation will acquire nuclear weapons. Iran does not hesitate in expressing the opinion that Israel should be wiped off the map.

MSNBC - yes that MSNBC - offers a blistering, in-depth assessment of Hillary’s email scandal
By Robert Laurie Monday, July 27, 2015
In case you’ve haven’t been paying attention, you should know that Hillary’s email scandal is getting worse. The story, which involves classified material being emailed from her secret, private, and now-erased, home server isn’t going away. In fact, every few days we’re treated to new revelations that seem to further cement her status as 2016’s least trustworthy candidate.
Slate columnist: I hate that I love to grill because I’m supposed to be a feminist dude
By Dan Calabrese Friday, July 24, 2015
OK, that’s a good one, Jacob Brogan. Not only is your essay in Slate a hilarious parody of these self-styled feminist men, who indulge daily in self-loathing because of any and every last masculine impulse they might have, but you wrote it so convincingly that you managed to fool the liberal editors at Slate into publishing this satirical masterpiece. It’s almost as if, the more absurd you became, the more convinced they were that you actually meant what you were saying.
WaPo’s Dana Milbank: This Scott Walker kind of reminds me of Joe McCarthy, huh?
By Dan Calabrese Friday, July 24, 2015
Here’s what you need to know about Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank. He’s a liberal, of course, but he’s a particular kind of liberal. There are different breeds, after all. Milbank is one of those who’s spent way too much time in Washington and has come to mistake many of the presumptions people make in Washington for absolute fact - among them the idea that labor unions are just honest folks standing up for other honest folks, and that anyone who suggests they’re a problem in any way is just a demagogue looking to use working people for target practice.
The Media Love Affair with McCain
By Cliff Kincaid Wednesday, July 22, 2015
In the fight between Donald Trump and John McCain (R-AZ) over the senator’s military service, the liberal media have taken McCain’s side. But since when did the media get concerned about the noble cause of fighting communism in Vietnam?
Our media, led by CBS Evening News anchorman Walter Cronkite, who was then an influential media figure, protested the Vietnam War and prompted the U.S. withdrawal and communist takeover. His FBI file demonstrated Cronkite’s contacts with Soviet officials and how he was used as a dupe by the communists.
Washington Post pretty excited Hillary said ‘black lives matter’ and didn’t hedge or anything
By Dan Calabrese Tuesday, July 21, 2015
Every time I think media coverage of presidential politics can’t get any more sad and pathetic, I come across something like this. Of course, the whole storyline concerning #blacklivesmatter and whether certain candidates utter the phrase in compliance with Official Leftist Orthodoxy has been around for much of this year. But there has rarely been a clearer demonstration than this of how left-wing activists lead political writers around by the nose, such that a certain Janell Ross actually thought she was writing about a worthwhile matter when she keyboard-vomited the following for the Washington Post:
WaPo: Germans forcing Greece to accept reforms sort of makes it seem like the Nazis are back, huh?
By Dan Calabrese Thursday, July 16, 2015
I don’t even know what to do with this. If you ever help anyone with a problem, don’t expect to get credit for it from the Washington Post. Because it might be necessary for you to make the recipient of the help shed some bad habits, and if you do that . . . hey, remember how cruel Hitler was?
Anthony Faiola and Stephanie Kirchner of the Washington Post actually put their names to this piece. I do not know why:
Major Garrett dares to question the king about his flawless Iran deal
By Robert Laurie Thursday, July 16, 2015
Obama and John Kerry’s nuclear deal with Iran is simply the greatest piece of diplomacy every undertaken by mankind. It’s that good. Never mind that it virtually guarantees Iran will get the bomb, throws our allies under the atomic bus, and jumpstarts a mid-East arms race. You - and Congress - are not to question its complex brilliance.
Why the Media Hate Trump
By Cliff Kincaid Tuesday, July 14, 2015
Before Donald Trump ran for president, few people had heard of the Stolen Lives Quilt made in remembrance of Americans killed by illegal aliens. But on Friday, July 10, families of the victims appeared with Trump to talk about the illegal alien crime wave in America and to criticize the news media for not reporting accurately and completely about what is happening in America.
The entire news conference has now been posted online, providing information about the problem that has been denied to the American people for many years.
HuffPo Fail: Yes, Greece has Worse Default Record than Germany
By Arthur Christopher Schaper Thursday, July 9, 2015
In a piece designed to bolster Greece’s flagging reputation as a state teetering on the financial brink, Huffington Post Germany released an article claiming that Germany is the real default offender, and has no business shaming Greek culture or defaming the Greek government for its tradition of sloth, graft, waste, and fraud.
How to create killers and other haters
By Diane Weber Bederman Sunday, June 28, 2015
Tabitha Southey wrote in the Globe and Mail that “killers don’t just spontaneously generate.” She was referring to Dylann Roof, the man who murdered nine members of the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. In her opinion Roof became a racist killer from the literature he read-on-line, specifically from the Council of Conservative Citizens whose information about black/white relationships was, to put it nicely -skewed. Well deceitful. Actually hateful. The false information could push someone over the edge into “action” against people of colour. And it did.
Media Largely Ignore News of Latest Obamacare Revelation
By Roger Aronoff Wednesday, June 24, 2015
When it comes to MIT economist Jonathan Gruber’s Obamacare role, the media are making sure that the joke remains on us. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform recently received 20,000 pages of emails of exchanges between this professor and the White House during “the crucial months when [Obamacare] was being crafted and passed,” writes Charles Lipson for RealClearPolitics.
