Three college students have been arrested by federal authorities in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings, a law enforcement official familar with the case said this morning.

Boston suspect’s defense team gets major boost with lawyer who defended Unabomber, Loughner

One lawyer won acquittal for a Saudi man charged with carrying three firecracker-like devices on a plane, arguing he was a victim of hysteria over airport security after the Sept. 11 attacks. Another has managed to avert death sentences for some of the highest-profile criminals of our time, including the Unabomber and the gunman whose rampage injured former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

A Colombian drug-trafficker suspected of being one of the most significant narcotics traffickers in the world was arraigned in a Manhattan federal courtroom on Friday in front of U.S. District Judge Richard Sullivan, according to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials.

Recently a story has been going around about a man planning an armed march into Washington D.C. The progressive revamping of the military has gotten another boost. Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has offered an array of new benefits to the same-sex partners of service members, both active and retired, whether they are married or not. They include child care services, member-designated hospital visits, and the issuance of military ID cards to same-sex partners, granting them access to on-base commissaries, movie theaters and gyms.
