CBC man will have to teach Al-Jazeera English before he gets into his sales pitch
By Judi McLeod Friday, May 16, 2008
Former Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) editor in chief Tony Burman, who is taking on a top post at news network Al-Jazeera English, will expand “Al-Jazeera’s vast audience reach into important new areas of the world, most notably North America.”
Wadah Khantar, director general of the Al-Jazeera network, announced Burman’s appointment as managing editor on Wednesday.
The ex-CBCer also said he would pursue “increased investment in investigative journalism, more provocative and insightful current affairs and expansion of the network’s large worldwide network of more than 60 news bureaus”.
Finding Jihadists online requires the sleuthing of an Archangel
By Judi McLeod Thursday, May 15, 2008
Time has proven anti-Jihadist Internet sleuth codename Archangel right: Congress: Al-Qaeda is using the Internet to recruit terrorists in the U.S.
Jihadists on the Internet are prolific, so much so that they mirror a line in use during the Cold War: “They’re everywhere!”
“In six years I have bookmarked some 6,000+jihadist websites and the list is still growing,” Archangel told Canada Free Press (CFP) last July.
And now just two months shy of one year later, the bipartisan report by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs has been unveiled by Senators Joe Lieberman ((I-Conn.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) at a press conference on Capitol Hill Thursday.

The Hockey Stick scam that heightened global warming hysteria
By Dr. Tim Ball Monday, May 12, 2008
UN agencies, especially the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and its offspring the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), were orchestrated to achieve the goal of convincing public and policy makers that warming and climate change were a human created disaster. Manipulation of the process was first publicly exposed in the Chapter 8 issue (here). Sadly, it was just the first of several that established the pattern of IPCC behavior.
It was not the first time the unsupportable claim that humans were causing global warming had made the news. A major incident occurred in 1988 when James Hansen, Director of NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies (GISS), appeared before Senator Al Gore’s committee and said he was “99 percent” certain the Earth had warmed.

Read bin Laden’s lips, Mr. Obama
By Judi McLeod Friday, May 16, 2008
No wonder why Democrats and their Hollywood friends have a strong dose of Obamamania. On the very day Obama bin Laden sent word that for Al Qaeda the fight for the Palestinian cause was the most important factor driving its war with the west and what fueled 19 Muslims to carry out the suicide attacks against the United States on September 11, Barack Hussein Obama was blaming President George W. Bush of “the kind of appalling attack that’s divided our country and that alienates us from the world.”
Out on the hustings wannabe presidents don’t always get the message. Here is the import of bin Laden’s message for campaign busy Obama: “To Western nations…this speech is to understand the core reason of the war between our civilization and your civilians, I mean the Palestinian cause.”
From the heart of a woman who is tired of the racism
By Felicia Benamon Friday, May 16, 2008
I often wonder why the issue of race has been brought up much lately, and with such emphasis in the media. Especially during this year’s race for the White House. Race is more and more, earning a spotlight in the media.
The True American Maverick
By JB Williams Friday, May 16, 2008
When American voters think of the term “maverick,” they often think of Senator John McCain because McCain has spent decades associating himself with that term. To some degree, McCain is right to call himself a “maverick,” having independently departed the company of both his party and his constituents on many issues over the years.
President Bush, Condoleezza Rice and Forgotten Letters
By David Singer Friday, May 16, 2008
President Bush and Condoleezza Rice have a lot on their minds as they grapple with a multitude of the world’s current conflicts which - no doubt - have caused overloading of their respective memory banks
Tearing Race Asunder – The Problems That Liberal Demagogues Cause
By Yomin Postelnik Friday, May 16, 2008
Say what you want about President Bush. No president has ever been able to do as much to advance the cause of racial harmony and a color blind agenda.
Where Obama should start
By Michael Bates Friday, May 16, 2008
Barack Obama presents himself as the voice of hope and change. A transformational figure, he’ll set aside the old politics and run a dignified, elevated campaign, one eschewing gratuitous smears. If Obama is sincere, he should begin by cleaning up his party’s official Web presence.

Finding hope in the streets of Cannes
By OnTheWeb Friday, May 16, 2008
By Fr. Bernanrd Heffernan
It is hard to balance the extraordinary surface glamour of the Cannes Film Festival with the deep thought-provoking drama of the Canadian produced opening night entry, “Blindness.” Outside the well-guarded halls where the movies are shown, the streets are filled with entertainment stars, the beaches packed with beautiful people and the Mediterranean seems jammed with the super rich pacing the decks of their yachts. But as the lights dim for the screening, the audience is left gasping at what the Associated Press has called “a terrifying fable about how low people might go to stay alive.”
A bureaucrat, not a soldier
By Klaus Rohrich Friday, May 16, 2008
Romeo Dallaire, the Canadian army general who presided over the UN’s disastrous mission in Rwanda that resulted in the murder of some 800,000 innocents, has once again shown his true calling.
