Obama importing terrorists

Lest there be any confusion about the real priorities of President Obama, within the first week of assuming office he issued an executive order (EO) directing that $20.3 million in “assistance’ be directed to Hamas in the wake of its most recent run-in with Israel. In an EO signed January 27, 2009 found here President Obama directed that the funds be paid to Hamas out of the United States Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance Fund, claiming that it was in the “national interest” for him to do so.

What’s more, the prospect of having “refugees” from the Gaza strip resettled in the US is now very real. One is given to wonder how naive Mr. Obama can possibly be if he expects to bring Palestinians who have lived under the elected rule of Hamas into the United States with the expectation that they will assimilate and adopt America’s values. One can’t imagine that it could be anything other than naiveté that would cause the president to initiate such a move. Given his comments to the Turkish Parliament on April 6th that America is not a Christian nation and is thus not at war with Islam, the president ignores the obvious: is Islam at war with us? It seems that every day we learn of another outrageous act committed by Islamic fundamentalists somewhere in the world that kills scores and injures many more. Is this what Barack Obama envisions for American society? While this administration puts a fine point on the fact that it is different from the George W. Bush administration, one thing that can be said in favor of the Bush administration is that after 9/11 America was kept safe from Islamic terrorists. Somehow Mr. Obama seems to have adopted the liberal conceit that if only we can show our friendly intentions, then the Islamist threat will abate and we can all live in peace and harmony. This is a noble ambition on par with the biblical imagery of the lamb lying with the lion. But in reality when the lamb and the lion are lying side by side, the lamb is usually dead and the lion is feeding on its carcass. Forgive me if I am suspicious of the president’s motivation in cuddling up to terrorism-steeped Palestinians, but I question the wisdom of importing individuals from countries where crucifixion is considered a legal punishment for certain crimes, notwithstanding the president’s allegation that the US is not a Christian nation. The second part of this equation entails America’s traditional relationship with Israel. While Jews have become the convenient whipping boy for Western liberals, the state of Israel is still the only nation in the Middle East that was founded as a true democracy, even extending the right to vote to non-Jewish citizens, which is a state of affairs absent from most Arab/Muslim nations. From all appearances it appears that the Obama administration is prepared to cut Israel loose to fend for itself. That in itself would not be the end of the world, as Israel has demonstrated a remarkable ability to take care of business. But if America stops selling military hardware and technology to Israel, then Israel will become the lamb to the Arabs’ lion and there will be a repeat of the genocide perpetrated against the Jews during the 1940s. If this were to occur it could be laid directly at the feet of Barack Obama. It would also legitimize all those fears expressed during the presidential campaign about voting for someone with such limited experience.
