Unsustainable Deficits: Yet Another Obama Epiphany?

Dick Cheney's public scalding of President Barack Obama may be paying inadvertent dividends in policy matters beyond and above national security.

In what will surely light up dim bulbs at Daily KOS and other left-wing recruitment centers for the communist party, Obama called current deficit spending “unsustainable,” and warned of skyrocketing interest rates. As reported, in part, at Bloomberg.com:

"May 14 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama, calling current deficit spending “unsustainable,” warned of skyrocketing interest rates for consumers if the U.S. continues to finance government by borrowing from other countries. “We can’t keep on just borrowing from China,” Obama said at a town-hall meeting in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, outside Albuquerque. “We have to pay interest on that debt, and that means we are mortgaging our children’s future with more and more debt.” "Holders of U.S. debt will eventually “get tired” of buying it, causing interest rates on everything from auto loans to home mortgages to increase, Obama said. “It will have a dampening effect on our economy.” “Most of what is driving us into debt is health care, so we have to drive down costs,” he said. "

All of this from the president who signed that ungodly trillion dollar "stimulus bill" that no one was allowed to read because there was no time. This from the president who sent Congress a $3 trillion budget, and whose financial chicanery promises to leave this nation with trillion dollar deficits every year for the foreseeable future. And only NOW Obama is concerned about unsustainable deficits? Will someone please remind the president that the time to deal with deficits and reckless spending is before the horses leave the barn--which they do when Obama plants his John Henry on an outrageous liberal spending bill. Will someone also please alert the president to the fact that one million American patriots gathered at "Tea Parties" on April 15 to express their grave concerns about the financial Armageddon that will result unless run away spending and budget deficits are addressed? Remind the president that, although members of his administration dismissed Tea Party participants as "right wing extremists" engaged in unhealthy disagreement with government, the fact is that the Tea Parties fostered healthy debate among citizens who really care about the well being of future generations of Americans. More Tea Parties will follow and perhaps the president should pay attention? Someone also needs to challenge the president's absurd conclusion that socialized medicine will solve America's health care crisis while helping to reign in spending. Rather than disrupting the most efficient and professional health care system on the globe, Obama should recognize that the 12-40 million illegal aliens who have invaded America are a major reason for skyrocketing health care costs and hospital closures. Illegal aliens cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars in public services to which they are not entitled. Granting amnesty to invading criminals will only serve to attract another 20 million or so as America's experience with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 has proven. Rather than granting amnesty to invading criminals, Obama must complete construction of a fence at the Mexican border, and begin deportation of those who have no legal basis for being here. Obama should also refuse to waste any additional taxpayer funds on bailouts for private enterprise. Above all else, Obama needs to recognize that his party and his policies are the root cause for America's financial kerfuffel. Ridding the nation of reckless liberal spending is the sort of CHANGE that America desperately needs!
