Obama: US And Russia Are “Equals”

Celebrities have a habit of saying things about America, to foreign audiences, apparently with the misconception that their words will never make it back home. The Dixie Chicks are among those who found out (the hard way) that words do travel quickly, there are serious consequences, and no one is immune.

No one.
"America respects Russia, we want to build relations where we deal as equals," President Barack Obama told the international Russian-language news channel Vesti ahead of his landmark visit on Monday to Moscow. Obama said relations had "left a lot to be desired in recent years" under predecessor George W. Bush and reminded his audience that he wanted to hit the "reset" button from day one in the White House. Describing Russia as a "great country with extraordinary culture and traditions," he said it "remains one of the most powerful countries in the world" and is a major guarantor of "international stability and prosperity."
Still on his immature, blame Bush recitation, President Obama has declared our being equal to a one-time mortal enemy, diminished the stature of the United States, and perpetuated his apology tour for another international audience. Meanwhile, the Russian people are not in Obamania mode…
On the eve of Barack Obama’s arrival to Moscow, many Russians are showing a surprising degree of indifference to the trip, while others say they didn’t even know the American president was coming.
Indifferent to whom? The Russian people are definitely more discerning than their Obama-loving, sheepish, European counterparts.
Meanwhile, other Russians are taking a more wait-and-see approach, saying the green American president doesn’t deserve so much fanfare at this point in his short career.
The sooner we survive and move on from this pitiful excuse of a president, the sooner we can restore the office and our standing in the world.
