Obama’s Health Plan would end Medicare for Seniors

AARP Takes Seniors’ Money But Turns Back on Their Questions

A short time ago I wrote a column on how Obama’s Health Plan would end Medicare for Seniors, in which I outlined the points within that plan that were geared to seriously reduce or ration, and in some instances outright eliminate medical attention for the elderly.

I also mentioned and provided information on the link that would provide more information as published by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann’s article on “Obama Will Repeal Medicare.” One of the bits of information I neglected to add to my column was the growing involvement that AARP, the largest of the many organizations that have been created to, in theory, advocate for our nation’s many senior citizens, had been carving out for themselves in Obama’s plan. However, Rev. Donald E. Wildmon, founder and chairman of the American Family Association, a pro-family advocacy organization with over two million online supporters and approximately 150,000 subscribers to its monthly flagship publication the AFA Journal, came to my rescue with an article in the August 8, 2009 edition of Canada Free Press, titled, “AARP officials walk out of meeting, refuse questions concerning ObamaCare from angry seniors.” Before I get into what Rev. Wildmon stated in his article, I should first let you know that I am no longer a member of AARP, having left them several years ago based on their growing propensity for trying to become a huge profit-making corporate type of business by marketing and selling to their captive membership, supplemental insurance plans to Medicare. The volume and costs for these plans catapulted AARP into huge profits mounting into the millions of dollars.

AARP is no longer an advocate for seniors’ benefits and wellness

In order to maintain their so-called ‘‘non-profit’’ status they began to make inordinately large contributions to political causes – liberal Democrat political causes and candidates. In addition to their left wing type generosity, they did one particular thing that infuriated me and caused me to cancel my membership with them a few years ago when they nominated the socio-communist Harry Belafonte as their “Man of the Year.” When I protested this anti-American action I was told in no uncertain terms that the honor bestowed on this traitor who sided with Hugo Chavez of Venezuela in calling President George Bush “another Hitler” would not be rescinded. My resignation was submitted immediately on receipt of their notification to me. When I wrote a column detailing all of this information very soon after receiving it from AARP, I got several letters of feedback agreeing with me and also saying that they would be leaving AARP as well. I can only hope that there were many more who took the same actions even though they did not let me know about it. But then recently when Morris and McCann did their expose’ on the AARP’s getting involved with the Obama people and his health care plan, working against their mission of assisting senior citizens and profiting by becoming one of its vendors. Dick Morris stated that AARP did that with Bush’s prescription drug plan in anticipation of making more profits. So it has become very evident that AARP is no longer an advocate for seniors’ benefits and wellness, having succumbed to the lust for more millions in profits, at the expense of the people they entice into membership in their questionable organization that supports Obama’s health plan that could lead to disastrous cuts in seniors’ medical care. AARP then spends millions of dollars on daily advertising their supposed advocacy for seniors to make themselves look more appealing. Reverend Wildmon points alludes to this in his CFP article as does Dick Morris and as I did in my recent column on the subject. Wildmon states that AARP has been taken over by liberals and are using its millions of members to push Obama’s health care plan on the elderly, “even if it includes euthanasia.”

AARP Membership: Treated as first class members or ‘cash cows’

The unacceptable treatment that many seniors received at a meeting that AARP sponsored and which is recorded on the video that Rev. Wildmon supplied with his CFP article of August 7, 2009 supports his contentions. I can only suggest that senior citizens who are members of AARP should carefully consider whether they are being treated as first class members or ‘cash cows.’
