Imposing nanny state control over Americans’ lifestyles and imposing a European style regime on the US

An administration based on lies

Last night Barack Hussein Obama gave the 28th speech in support of his proposed healthcare scheme. One Republican Congressman, Joe Wilson of South Carolina shouted “You Lie!” when the President assured the joint session of Congress that illegal aliens would not be covered. Wilson later conveyed apologies to the White House for the outburst, stating that he reacted emotionally and was wrong to disrespect the office the President.

Maybe so, but Rep. Wilson was correct in his assessment of the President’s honesty. When the President talks about those 45 million Americans that are currently not covered by any health insurance, he’s quoting a number that according to his own census bureau includes nearly 10 million individuals who are in the US illegally. Additionally another 8.2 million are children under the age of 18, most of whom are eligible for federally subsidized children's health insurance or are covered under the SCHIP program. Another 860,000+ are age 65 or older who are eligible for Medicare because of their age. Nearly 18,000,000 are earning less than $25,000 per annum, which would qualify them for Medicaid or other government programs. Over 7.2 million are earning in excess of $75,000 or more; and 6.8 million reported incomes of between $50,000 and $74,999 – many who could afford coverage but have chosen not to buy it. But don’t take my word for it; look it up here: So the President’s argument about the plight of those over 45 million that aren’t covered is specious and his assurances that illegal aliens would not be covered is a bald-faced lie. But then to date the Obama administration has demonstrated very little finesse in solving problems, short of throwing astronomical amounts of money at them in hopes that they’ll go away. The “problem” of healthcare in America is no exception. While Mr. Obama accuses those opposed to his healthcare aspirations of playing politics, or worse, of being in the pockets of special interests, it’s really he who has an agenda he wishes to advance that he’s loath to share with his fellow citizens. Mr. Obama has never managed to explain why the 1018-page HR3200 is so important and exactly how it will reduce the cost of healthcare in the United States; particularly if he is adding some 45 million new people onto the government healthcare rolls. Even the Congressional Budget Office, which is run by the Democrats, disagrees with the President’s math. Could it be that there is a deeper and more nefarious reason why Mr. Obama is so adamant that this healthcare bill will pass? What if it doesn’t pass? Will the President order troops into the streets to force passage? There are a number of ways that simply and easily could lower the cost of healthcare in the US. The first involves tort reform, but an ice cube has a better chance of surviving the hottest room in hell than meaningful tort reform being enacted by either the Democrats or the Republicans. Why? Because both parties are in the pockets of America’s trial lawyers who ensure that tort reform will never pass in the Congress by greasing the skids with oodles of lobbying dollars. Without tort reform doctors will continue to have to pay up to $200,000 a year in malpractice insurance, as the ABA’s ambulance-chasing predators are nipping at the heels of doctors with malpractice suits that in many cases are frivolous. Think of the cost that John Edwards alone added to healthcare when he channeled that unborn baby girl to a jury back in 1985 and got a cool $6.5 million award. He then went on to win 20 more cases like it, racking up $60 million in additional jury awards. As a result of John Edwards’s work the number of births delivered by caesarean section increased exponentially, as did the cost of healthcare overall. Another way to quickly lower healthcare costs is for insurance companies to compete with one another across state lines and to make health insurance a portable commodity that individuals can take with them when moving jobs or relocating in other states. The way the system is set up now is that each state has a set of health insurance monopolies that keep their costs artificially high. But there’s no chance that you will see the President support either of these initiatives because his interest isn’t really in keeping healthcare costs low. His interest is in imposing nanny state control over Americans’ lifestyles and imposing a European style regime on the US. The bottom line is that Americans won’t stand for it and things could get really ugly before the next election.
