Obama and the Democrats

Acting boldly—and in ignorance

If the obvious foibles of the Obama administration weren’t so pathetic, they would be humorous. But laughing at the Obamites is equal to playing one’s fiddle while the country burns.

Item—When Obama was running for President he called Iraq the wrong war and Afghanistan the right war. Now that he’s in office, he can’t seem to make up his mind whether the war in Afghanistan is right or wrong. His initial appointment of Gen. Stanley McChrystal, called for the general to submit a list of recommendations in how to best pursue the war. And as soon as the General submitted a detailed proposal, Barack Obama promptly ignored it, claiming he needed more information. He justifies his dithering with the contention that he will not rush into a decision until all the facts are at hand. American soldiers are now dying in combat while the White House fidgets. Item—As soon as Mr. Obama assumed office he immediately began a massive agitation to get certain legislation passed quickly. Passage of his economic stimulus package was so urgent that debate or even examination of the bill was out of the question. The government had to commit to spending $787 billion in taxpayer money right then and there or the sky would fall. Ditto for cap and trade and healthcare. There was absolutely no time to adequately debate and discuss either cap and trade and if it would in fact achieve the goals the administration claims, nor was there time to have an educated discussion about healthcare, as the President and his party are attempting to hijack 16% of the American Economy. Item— On the first day after taking office Mr. Obama issued an order calling for the closing down of the Guantanamo Bay enemy combatants detention center all without having an alternative plan of what to do with the inmates of that august facility once it closed. The administration begged and cajoled friends and allies to take custody of some of these miscreants, but found very few takers. Now Americans are left with the possibility that many of these hardened terrorists and killers will find their way into the United States, placing all Americans in grave danger. Item— Harping ceaselessly on the dangers of climate change, the President wants to spend trillions on so-called “clean energy” initiatives, such as wind and solar power. That’s a laudable goal to pursue, but also an expensive one. The cost of a wind or solar electrical grid to augment the existing power grid will run into multi-trillions of dollars, making this source of power so expensive that it’s use would be literally infeasible. Yet there doesn’t appear to be any interest on the part of the administration in exploring less costly alternatives in conjunction with existing methods of energy production such as coal or nuclear power. Item— The Obama administration is discouraging exploration of domestic energy sources, even though the U.S. has oil reserves that are greater than those of Saudi Arabia and possibly the largest store of natural gas on the planet. Yet, while he is working overtime to prevent drilling for oil on the North American continent, the President is making billions of taxpayer dollars available to Petrobras, Brazil’s largest oil company, of which George Soros is a major shareholder, to allow that company to do what American companies aren’t allowed to do. Item— Barack Obama appears to be the only President in the history of the Union to have no interest in crafting legislation. Rather than instruct congress through draft legislation generated by the White House, the President prefers to stay above the fray by allowing his desired legislation to be drafted by a corrupt group of oligarchs in Congress or by a corrupt group of oligarch at the Apollo Alliance or the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). In either case, the President does not appear to be taking an active hand in steering the drafting of this legislation. In fact, very few individuals in public office seem to have any interest in what a bill actually says, as is evidenced by recent disclosures that neither the Senate, nor Congress actually read the Stimulus Bill or the health reform bill currently being written up. The obvious pattern here is that decisions appear to be made with little or no regard for how they might affect the well being of Americans. When it suits the President’s agenda he’ll take time to “gather information” on issues; when it doesn’t, it’s too important to take time out to discuss its ramifications. It’s almost as if the people were secondary to the President’s Grand Agenda. It’s a sure bet that every day more and more Americans are scratching their heads wondering what they let themselves in for when the decided to buy Obama’s line about “hope and change”. There is indeed “change” now that Barack Obama is in office. But it isn’t the sort of change that was initially visualized by the voters. The “change” the President has initiated in Washington is more of the same, except on a much larger and more reckless scale, giving little hope to voters that any of it will leave them better off.
