America is smiling this morning. And America’s smile this morning is its first broad and beaming one since November 4, 2008.
Republican gubernatorial wins in New Jersey and Virginia brought Hope & Change, We the People style, to a nation whose well touted transformation is being forced on millions of Americans who clearly demonstrate that they don’t want it.
Just one year ago today, a crowd of 55,000 celebrated the election of President Barack Hussein Obama in Grant Park. Part of that victory came from the historic breakthrough for Democrats in Virginia where they had been out in the cold in the state’s electoral votes since 1964.
Last night Republican Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell handily took the state back by a margin of 17%.
In New Jersey, Republican Chris Christie pulled off a stunning upset over Gov. Jon Corzine.
That New Jersey and Virginia were only two of the 50 U.S. States holding gubernatorial elections makes last night’s GOP victories all the more pointed.
Obama had personally campaigned for both R. Creigh Deeds and Corzine.
Avoiding the election outcome in the same fashion it has avoided the Tea Party and Town Hall protesters, the White House issued a statement after the GOP victory in Virginia, saying the president was not watching election returns and would not be making any remarks on the results.
According to ABC News, Michelle Obama had taken her daughters to a Miley Cyrus concert at the Verizon Center. On Inauguration Day, the Obama daughters, media dubbed the First Tweens were taken to the Kids Ball where Cyrus performed.
Sour grapes seems to be on the White House Menu.
While Nov. 4, 2008 came as bad news for some 60 million Americans, Obama had more bad news than the GOP comebacks in Virginia and New Jersey on Nov. 4, 2009.
Hours before polls closed Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid admitted that Congress may not complete health care legislation this year, missing Obama’s deadline, which forces debate into a congressional election year in 2010.
Meanwhile, Tea Parties and Town Hall meetings are on the increase and thousands are expected to a Congressional House visit 12 noon tomorrow.
