Democrats Fiddle Healthcare while the Economy Burns

Ignoring the economic plight of 1 in 6 Americans who are out of a job or underemployed, Democrats in the House of Representatives played Nero this past Saturday and voted to socialize one seventh of the U.S. economy.

Never missing a chance to get the nation’s priorities all wrong, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi looking as proud as papa Stalin himself declared “the bill is passed” … and with a slam of the gavel forever changed American healthcare. Not quite. Less than 24 hours later Senators including Lindsey Graham declared "the House bill is dead on arrival." Months of greasing palms (AMA, AARP) and declaring war on the half of America who opposed their plans, the only tangible accomplishment by House Democrats was a great photo op for Pelosi … and the lasting ire of the American people. Just like Cap and Trade legislation before it, the House healthcare bill will surely die in the Senate and never see the light of day. Democrats Vote Themselves out of Power It was only a week ago when the citizens of Virginia and New Jersey rose together to vote out their free spending and high taxing Democrat Governors and replaced them with fiscally conservative Republicans … a pattern certain to be repeated across the nation if Democrats in Washington DC continue to push costly, job killing healthcare reform at a time of 10.2% unemployment. Surveys have clearly shown the majority of Americans oppose Democrat healthcare reform. The more they know about it the less they like … the legislation contains such political kryptonite as billions of dollars in tax increases for the middle class, hundreds of billions in Medicare cuts, and jail sentences for those who refuse to purchase healthcare insurance. It is a prescription of disaster for the U.S. economy. It has been estimated that up to an additional 5 million jobs will be lost because of the legislation. Future healthcare innovation will also be at risk. 10% taxes on the medical device industry and decreased profits at pharmaceutical companies will result in far less R & D spending putting next generation technological development at risk. Just like in 1980 following the Jimmy Carter caused economic disaster and in 1994 after Democrats overreached with HillaryCare, in 2012 liberals will once again be voted out of office en masse because of their warped spending priorities and careless attitude toward the economic plight of the American people. What Democrats Really Want Many have seen the YouTube videos of Barack Obama, Barney Frank and others admitting that the end goal of healthcare reform is a single payer system, an experiment that has failed everywhere it has been tried. Germany may have universal healthcare, but their breast cancer mortality rates are 88% higher than the U.S. Canada may have single payer, but we have much shorter waiting times for hospital admissions and far greater access to preventative medicine like mammograms and colonoscopies. In the UK kidney cancer patients die 50% faster than those in the U.S. In situations where a single day can mean the difference between life and death, sick Germans are often forced to wait months to see an oncologist. Who in their right mind would want this for America?
