Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), Constitutional authority for Congress to require individuals to purchase health insurance

Bonehead of the Day

It’s really sad that those who hold the power of government over our heads know little about rules, laws, and our rights.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) told CNSNews.com that the constitutional authority for Congress to require individuals to purchase health insurance is the same that allowed for Medicaid and Medicare, and for states to require driver’s licenses. He also said critics who suggest the health care bill is unconstitutional are making a “spurious argument.”
As I and many others have offered up a retort to this ignorant response, one would think Senator Warner knows that not everyone owns an automobile, thus don’t need a driver’s license. One would think Senator Warner would know that buying a car is a choice. Having our body isn’t and it’s Warner that’s making the spurious argument. Obviously the only thing that matters to these people is seizing as much power as they can, and that doesn’t take brains.
