“AMA Doesn’t Speak for Most Doctors”

ObamaCare Has Corrupted Both AARP and AMA Who Have Turned Against Their Members

What a surprise I got when reading This Week in Human Events at HumanEvents.com on Friday, January 08, 2010. For a moment it was like re-reading a story about the infamous and greedy AARP.

The story written by a Dr. Lee Hieb, “AMA Doesn’t Speak for Most Doctors” was so strikingly analogous to the plight so recently published by my columns along with others who have taken up the cudgel for our senior citizens in their case against the American Association of Retired Persons. In almost the entire article by Dr. Hieb, if you were to substitute the letters ‘AARP’ for ‘AMA’ and also replace ‘seniors’ for ‘doctors’ the scenarios would be replicated for each group. What the AMA is doing and has done to many of its doctor members (many of whom have also done as AARP members have, by resigning) the AARP has done to its many long-time members. And basically, that is to give them the shaft in favor of drawing favor (and obscene wealth) with the U. S. Government. Dr. Hieb makes public that the AMA does not speak for “a huge block of American physicians” when in fact it is probably more in the range of “only 17-19% of physicians actually in practice.” This was brought out when the AMA endorsed the Democrats’ health reform bill, when this “misleading statement” was eagerly claimed by Obama “that ‘doctors’ support his healthcare takeover.” Similarly, when the government loudly trumpeted that seniors, as designated by the term, “AARP members”, were in support of Obama’s flawed health care plan; when in point of fact, huge number of seniors have renounced the plan and resigned their membership in AARP because of its endorsement of the plan. The seniors have correctly determined that AARP no longer supports the goals and ideals that represented AARP’s beginning contracts with seniors promising to assist them with government’s tricky and devious machinations of supposed attempts to provide services for the seniors. Of late, AARP has become a shill for their own brand of insurance to cover the “gap” between Medicare payments and the physicians. AARP saw a chance for many of their leadership figures to become independently wealthy by selling insurance to their captive audience of members and spent millions of dollars of the members’ dues monies paid by the members, in order to promote these ‘get-rich-quick’ insurance schemes primarily on their already registered members. This wonderful idea of creating an organization that would “look out for” and help protect our nation’s seniors from elderly victimization has come full circle and is now preying on their unsuspecting and trusting senior members whom they were organized to protect. That is why so many thousands have resigned and are looking for another group to come to their rescue. I would tell those trusting and good-hearted elderly souls to be extremely wary of strangers bearing gifts; and that also goes for our good doctors who have become victims of a similar game plan with the AMA. Whatever either of the two groups decide to do, for heaven’s sake DON’T trust the government to help you; this government is greedier and more self indulgent than either AARP or AMA; and you could even include the despicable, Christian-hating ACLU in there as well. But then the ACLU doesn’t have a membership desertion problem as do the other two; their members are all part of the greedy profit sharing clique of monies they bleed from municipalities condemning anything Christian. Be patient; November 2, is getting closer. After we flip Congress, Obama's power will be greatly lessened, if not virtually absent. Then perhaps we can learn the truth about his status as a natural born American citizen and maybe do more flipping.
