imageAn estimated 10,000 conservatives are on their way to CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) to hear Glenn Beck as this year’s Saturday keynote speaker. Some 50% CPAC attendees are said to be students. Canada Free Press columnists will be there. Everybody will be there. But not thankfully Barack “Alleged” Obama. Obama’s new CFP nickname until he coughs up on his sealed off personal records. One CFP columnist not going to CPAC is Jerry McConnell. The former marine is back home in Massachusetts kicking up dust about Fox News having abandoned we the people. Feisty McConnell is not the only one who is suspicious about how Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly seem to go “postal” whenever The One’s birth certificate is mentioned.

Even as he gets ready to fire off his CPAC speech, Beck is caught up in controversy for having basically ambushed Debra Medina as a 9/11 Truther on his radio show. Medina is the Tea Party candidate in the Texas gubernatorial race against Rick Perry. The Truther ambush was never discussed between FoxNews and the Medina campaign prior to air time. Worse, Beck, with co-hosts Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere, continued to ridicule Ms. Medina on their show the day after, calling her among other names, “the other Woman running” as opposed to (their) more favoured Kay Bailey Hutchison. Ah, the power of the press when you are not there to defend yourself! Hello, Glenn! But before you go to your chalk board for another lecture this time, you got it wrong. You got it wrong because some members of the 9/12 Network you championed are also dedicated Tea Party members, who strongly, and even passionately support Debra Medina for Texas Governor! Beck and other conservative icons who will be addressing CPAC attendees have made it clear how ridiculous they find the “Birthers” still out there demanding that Obama pony up on his controversial birth certificate. A quick scan of this year’s CPAC attendees shows Ron Paul in their midst. The message that could be taken from this? Truthers welcome. Birthers not. But for all those letter writers sounding so convinced and thus down at heart that FoxNews has joined the enemy, abandoning them: Only the incredibly naive could believe that FoxNews had a monopoly on the truth. Like many other networks, ratings count more than feelings. Glenn Beck got his start as the “token conservative” at CNN. Who’s to say he’s not the token Tea Party voice for FoxNews? Much heart can be taken in this truth: Tea Party members call no one leader, for their only leader is the American Constitution. Nobody fools Tea Party members. Not Repubs, not RINOs, not Newt Gingrich and not even Sarah Palin. That’s because just like my Tea Party friend Cathy Tyler recently wrote me, “We are a philosophy not a political party.” Meanwhile, no matter what Beck and O’Reilly say, it is your indisputable right to ask questions about the murky past of Barack “Alleged” Obama.
