2010: Take America Back

All Politics is National Now

Tip O’Neill was not exactly prescient when he claimed that “all politics is local.” As we learned from Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts (referred to by the president as Massatoosits—this from the Great Orator who can recite the Muslim call to prayer in perfect Arabic) all politics is national now.

Americans who have never cared about politics are now fully engaged. One of the few positive side effects of the Obama presidency is the emergence of new citizen candidates getting involved in their local governments. This, by the way, is precisely what our Founding Fathers had in mind—the citizen legislator. As opposed to what we have now, a ruling oligarchy of thoroughly corrupt lifetime politicians. All House and Senate races in November 2010 are national elections. This election is our last chance to throw some sand in the gears. We have no margin for error, despite the encouraging poll numbers. Our side has never been especially effective at getting our message out. 2010: Take America Back, by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann should be put to good use by Tea Partiers as we gird our collective loins. Morris is always good with facts and figures; what sets 2010 apart is the inclusion of constructive recommendations for building an unstoppable grassroots movement to take America back to her Constitutional roots. If Democrats run on their record, they’re doomed. Congress and the current regime have bungled everything they’ve touched. Nobody trusts the current congress. They know that. They only strategy open to them, other than their characteristic ad hominem attacks against the opposition, will be to posture themselves as the Moderate Democrat. It’s confounding that commentators still even talk about a Moderate Democrat. You’ll have an easier time finding a Moderate Unicorn among the current herd of Democrats. To hold onto one party tyranny in November, Democrats have to distance themselves from their own record, and more importantly, from Barack Obama. They can only get away with it if we let them. Morris and McGann give us a succinct list of Democrats who need to be booted out of the public trough. They include the voting record of each shameless huckster, showing the percentage of party line votes. That alone is a weapon of mass Democrat destruction. When one of them tries to exhort his (or her) independence from the Party, activists can quickly expose the chicanery: Really? Then how come you voted Pelosi’s way 94 percent of the time? Be especially wary of those in congress who voted against the Health Crimes abomination. They will attempt to claim the mantle of Blue Dog Moderate—a species which has gone the way of the Dodo. Pelosi, as Morris and McGann point out, has the luxury of allowing some of her jackals to vote against some pieces of controversial legislation. She has more than enough secure votes to pass any crazy and destructive feculence she needs. Morris and McGann also provide some specific ideas for YouTube videos and brochures. Novices to the world of politics can adapt these and use them effectively with the authors’ blessings. Social networking sites have, quite literally, leveled the playing field. Anyone can get involved and get their message out without a huge TV advertising budget. In fact, the authors point out that TV is losing its relevancy as a campaign medium. 2010 was meant to be a useful guide to patriots from political insiders. Use it.
