Mexican Presidente Felipe Calderon, Arizona’s new anti-illegal immigration law

But Has He Read It?

Mexican Presidente Felipe Calderon used his visit to the White House to join the Obama administration in publicly castigating Arizona’s new anti-illegal immigration law.

At the start of Wednesday's state visit to Washington, Calderon said the law discriminated against Mexicans and called for the two countries to work together to develop an immigration policy that did not force people to live in the shadows ‘with such laws as the Arizona law, which is forcing our people to face discrimination.’ Calderon, whose remarks were translated from Spanish, said ‘We can do so if we create a safer border -- a border that will unite us instead of dividing us.
That’s almost as moronic as something Obama’s teleprompter would say. Our border should “unite” us? Did I spend thousands to put up a fence around my property so I could “unite” with my neighbors? Don’t expect any form of reciprocity for those open borders, Barry. Calderon’s government will ban foreigners if they “upset the equilibrium of the national demographics.” (Michelle Malkin) Maybe it just loses something in the translation, but that sounds like pretty overt racial profiling to me. Illegal entry into Mexico is a felony, punishable by two years in prison. As many San Diego State students have learned the hard way, you don’t have U.S. Constitutional rights in Mexico—forget about due process. We can’t really expect other countries to get on board with our immigration laws if our own State Department is apologizing to countries like China for Arizona’s chimerical human rights atrocities. I daresay any Chinese political dissident who has not yet been executed would gladly offer to take his chances in Phoenix. Calderon:
Despite their enormous contribution to the economy and society of the United States,’ Calderon said, millions of immigrants ‘still live in the shadows, and at times, like in Arizona, even face patterns of discrimination.’
No they don’t. In Arizona, where the Hispanic population is pushing fifty percent, there is no reason for illegals from Mexico to hide. It’s manifestly impossible to hide while applying for tax payer funded services. Calderon agrees with Obama that America is responsible for the drug fueled savagery at the border.
Obama also has vowed to take steps to try to lessen the demand for drugs in the U.S., including more money for treatment and prevention programs and to stem the flow of weapons from the U.S. to Mexico.
