Arizona New Gun Law to Take Effect in July or August 2010

The best kept secret in Town

“No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it” -- Thomas Jefferson It is safe to say that the Arizona Governor would make a great replacement for Janet Napolitano, Director of Homeland Security. Such an appointment would bring added meaning to the word security.

As the new director, Jan Brewer would defend the rights of Americans to protect themselves. The current administration has been woefull in this capacity and appears not to give it much thought.

Concealed carry without permit legislation

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law, legislation that allows citizens of that state over the age of 21 to carry concealed weapons without a permit. Arizona is the third state to have done this, following in the footsteps of Alaska and Vermont. The Associated Press distributed an article detailing this action. This story was neglected by the “mainstream media,” while being reported by bloggers and Fox News. Interestingly some media, showing their political agenda chose to run with this lead. “Favoring the constitutional right to bear arms over others’ concerns about gun safety, Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law concealed carry without permit legislation. This information is largely hidden because anti-gun proponents ignore the facts. Using any search engine with these simple words, gun ownership and crime, one finds that once again the media lies and distorts.

When citizens are allowed to carry a concealed weapon crime and murder rates go down.

Since 1991, when violent crime peaked in the U.S., 24 states have adopted “shall issue” laws, replacing laws that prohibited carrying or that issued carry permits on a very restrictive basis; many other federal, state, and local gun control laws have been eliminated or made less restrictive; and the number of privately-owned guns has risen by about 90 million. The numbers of gun owners and firearms, right to carry states, and people carrying firearms for protection, have risen to all-time highs, and through 2008 the nation’s murder rate has decreased 46 percent to a 43-year low, and the total violent crime rate has decreased 41 percent to a 35-year low. Preliminary data reported by the FBI indicates that violent crime decreased further in the first half of 2009. Does it make any sense for legislation to exist that favors criminals and thugs who might carry an unregistered weapon without permit, allowing them the advantage over law-abiding citizens who in many states remains defenseless? Such legislation turns the citizen into a lawbreaker when they decide to defend themselves. The United States government would do well to forget about their political agenda and follow the lead of Switzerland in the video below. Citizens of Orange County, CA must contact their members of congress and let their positions be known.
