Pious Defiance

I’m having a tough time mustering the compulsory faux indignation over the impending Koran burning in Florida. Pastor Terry Jones is damning those who blame America for violent jihad. The pundit community is loudly castigating the pastor’s antics in the strongest of terms.

Of course, the dinosaur media is in their usual delirium over this. Just to be clear—a flag burning ceremony would be perfectly fine with the left. I daresay an imam ceremonially burning a stack of Bibles would be hailed as singular act of great fortitude. But, the burning of a few Korans has everyone’s knickers in quite the twist. That, we are told, most emphatically, would be unmistakably un-American. Of course, Bill Ayers stomping on an American flag was just a healthy display of free speech. Neither the pastor, nor anyone in his church massacred 3,000 innocents on 9/11. Perhaps the Reverend has actually read the Koran:

I shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads, strike off the very tips of their fingers. Quran 8:12, The Spoils, Garments of fire have been prepared for the unbelievers. Scalding water shall be poured upon their heads, melting their skins and that which is in their bellies. They shall be lashed with rods of iron. Whenever, in their anguish, they try to escape from Hell, back they shall be dragged, and will be told: ‘Taste the torment of the Conflagration!’ Quran 22:19-20, The Pilgrimage, When you meet the unbelievers in jihad [holy war], chop off their heads. And when you have brought them low, bind your prisoners rigorously. Then set them free or take ransom from them until the war is ended. (Koran, 47:4)

Maybe he should toss the Hadith onto the pyre too. Nobody can seriously argue that a Koran burning party is an august ceremony. He may run afoul of the EPA. But it shouldn’t come as such a jolt. Some push back against Obama and the Victory Mosque is natural and inevitable. The take away from all of this is that though America is the most tolerant nation on the planet, everyone has a breaking point. The Obama administration, abetted by the mainstream media is hell bent on pushing until people begin to break.
