Apologizing for America’s exceptionalism while lauding the accomplishments of the Muslim world

An indecisive Barack Obama represents a clear and present danger to the world

When did the world first begin to notice that President Barack Hussein Obama was indecisive?

Could it have been his infamous failure to honor the United States Flag by not placing his right hand over his heart or the decision not to wear the flag lapel pin. “As Obama said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides.” “There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all.” Send the wrong message? Excuese me sir, whose side are you on Mr. President? Then there was his failure to act when Navy SEALS were in place as the Somali Pirates had captured the captain of a recently hijacked ship. He seems to believe his charm and voice can get the job done. Is it possible to send this guy a clue? Perhaps the captured U.S. hikers, soon to be tried for spying in Iran might get a message to him. Have his negotiations slowed down Iran or North Korea’s nuclear ambitions? Now Hugo Chavez has contracted with Russia to have nuclear technology. Perhaps the biggest insult to all Americans while the world watched was President Obama’s “bowing tour” and the speech he made in Cairo, apologizing for America’s exceptionalism while lauding the accomplishments of the Muslim world. Now the U.S. is faced with another serious situation and it is doubtful that President Obama will be up to the task at hand. The United States of America, still the worlds remaining ‘super-power’ had clout under most presidents with the exception of Jimmy Carter. When the U.S. president or his envoy spoke they were taken seriously. Like former President Jimmy Carter, this President is considered a joke by the leaders of rogue regimes the world over and U.S allies as well. Today Reuters reported, The White House on Tuesday condemned an artillery attack by North Korea on a South Korean island and demanded the action cease. Now that must make Kim shake in his boots. As the North Koreans fired dozens of artillery shells at the island in one of the heaviest bombardments on the South since the Korean War ended in 1953, the world sits back and can only wait. "The United States is firmly committed to the defense of our ally, the Republic of Korea, and to the maintenance of regional peace and stability,"the White House said, adding that it was in close and continuing contact with South Korea over the situation. As committed as this administration was to making sure Iran did not obtain nuclear technology? There are around 28,000 U.S. forces stationed in South Korea. The two Koreas are still technically at war --the Korean War ended only with a truce --and tension rose sharply early this year after Seoul accused the North of torpedoing one of its navy vessels, killing 46 sailors. North Korea threatened to continue "merciless"strikes on South Korea on Tuesday after the communist state launched a deadly artillery attack across their western sea border. In a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, the North's top military command accused the South Korean military of initiating the exchange by shooting toward its side. President Lee Myung-bak ordered his military Tuesday to strike North Korea's missile base around its coastline artillery positions if it shows signs of additional provocation, his spokeswoman said.
The question now remains, will this situation be settled quickly as mere posturing and saber rattling or will President Obama’s failure to be taken seriously by world leaders prolong the situation? Obama’s international position on these matters might parallel those of former president Teddy Roosevelt with a minor revision. ‘Speak always, bow often and carry no stick.’ Frankly Scarlett it's time we all give a damn. Fortunately this woeful administration will eventually be “Gone with the wind.” Should you desire to receive a copy of Jim’s column please click the subscribe button at the top of the page.
