The Unions Have Won!

It was a year ago that Obama nominated Erroll Southers for the top position at TSA. Union sycophant Southers had to drop out of the nominating process, but Obama never did give up the idea of unionizing the TSA.

Now the question of bargaining rights at TSA is not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when,’ said John Gage, president of the American Federation of Government Employees, in a statement applauding the choice. ‘We are confident that the appointment of Mr. Southers as administrator will help put that matter to bed.

Imagine airline security being run with the ultra smooth efficiency that ran American car companies into the ground. Obama, who is co-owned by the unions and George Soros, will gleefully politicize the TSA. Imagine fire proofed airport screeners with thoroughly nefarious union bosses directing our airline security. As of 2001, TSA employees had been barred from engaging in collective bargaining. The Democrats undid the ban in 2007 and TSA Chief Incompetent, Janet Napolitano openly supported the unionization of airline security. The Federal Labor Relations Authority just ruled that 50,000 TSA personnel will be allowed to vote on whether or not to join a union and have full collective bargaining rights. But how to get TSA employees on board with unionization? Make them the objects of collective hate and derision by springing obnoxious new screening procedures on an unsuspecting public right before Thanksgiving. The administration was able to use conservative commentators, led by Matt Drudge to foment hatred toward individual TSA agents. After a few days of assaults and verbal abuse, have the president announce a pay freeze for federal employees. Now try to convince beleaguered TSA employees that signing up with a union is a bad idea. It’s a win-win for the unions. If airports opt out of TSA entirely, they’ll still be stuck with TSA procedures and most contracts will go to unionized companies. The airports that stick with TSA will enjoy the benefits of unionized government employees. “Sorry, lady. I’m the left shoe guy. You gotta wait here for the right shoe guy. He’s on break.” Actually, the administration scored a trifecta on this one. Obama’s boss, George Soros made money on the purchase of the body scanners. As for the company’s other political connections, it also appears that none other than George Soros, the billionaire funder of the country’s liberal political infrastructure, owns 11,300 shares of OSI Systems Inc., the company that owns Rapiscan. Not surprisingly, OSI’s stock has appreciated considerably over the course of the year. Soros certainly is a savvy investor. h
