Has The 13th Amendment Truly Brought About Freedom?

- Drumbeat of Liberty Will the Media make mention that the 13th Amendment was ratified on December 18th, 1865 abolishing slavery? Will the Media make mention that it was the Republicans that led the charge in passage of this Amendment? Will Those who are revising history to meet an agenda truthfully report that it was not the Democrats that were the champions of freedom to a large segment of the population? Will it be told that they worked in opposition to civil rights and were at the time the most ardent supporters of hate related crimes upon another human being? Over time the dangers of revision history has changed the perception that Democrats are the home for African Americans when those of this community should fully examine this political party and the factual history that surrounds it.

When the House first considered the Amendment in 1864, proponents were unable to attract the necessary Democratic votes. Frederick Douglass was so concerned that the Democrats would regain majority ships in the South shortly after the Civil War and make it impossible for the newly freed slaves to have the vote that he approached President Andrew Johnson speaking out for black suffrage and warning the country that the former slaveholders were regaining control of the South, and that even with the passage of the 13th Amendment that if the Democrats regained control once again the former slaves would be in essence still enslaved to their former "masters". In recent times it has been forgotten that in the halls of history that it was the Democrat Party that was the Party of the "Clan" and that the Republican Party was the true home for the African Americans and Abolitionists. The story has been so spun around and twisted over the years that one would think that the Democrats have always had the vested interest of African Americans at heart, after all can one not say that the Democrats brought about government housing and welfare programs? Was it not those who traditionally side with the Democrats that pushed for such programs as planned parenthood and affirmative action? Dr. King had a wish that one day people would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the merit of their character. Affirmative Action does the opposite of this wish, it lays focus on the color of a person's skin instead of the abilities of the person. It does not focus on the better attributes that an individual can bring to the table , but instead follows a path of racism that many fail to recognize because it has been promoted as a program that is supposed to create a level playing field but does not in the end do so. Individual merit and abilities in this day and age is color blind, a level playing field is not one created by force but by the individual achievements of a person. How could one not look at other minority groups and the ability for those that rise above the diversities that face them and not understand this. This program once again without anyone really examining it reverted back to placing a special precedence of difference and division instead of unity and equality. In many respects it is a continuation of segregation programs that Democrats have promoted throughout the long history of the party, but has been spun so well that many have come to not be able to recognize the weaves of the web that has been spun surrounding it. A hand up and not a hand out, when this basic ideal is lost within a person it allows for the individual to become dependent on others. To further suppress an individual or even an entire community what better way to do so than through programs that do not lend to promotion of moving past the lifestyle of dependency that a slaveholder held over the heads of those that they enslaved. Today that dependency has been shifted to the Federal Government encompassed within all of the social welfare programs and food assistance programs. Instead of promoting a pathway out of this dependency the Democrat Party plays the age old game of tugging at the heart strings of those who have become dependent on these programs. Through manipulation and word play, they have made a convincing case that without these programs individuals within these communities that rely on them cannot rise above the diversities that they face and that if they attempt to do so that they will always face an impossible rise to freedom from the dependency. When you examine these programs the barriers that have to be overcome is not all together the color of your skin or what economic background that you may fall under, but the very rules of the programs themselves. One of the ugliest aspects of history when people were enslaved by others was the breakdown of the family unit. Time and again slaveholders broke up the family unit and we see through the welfare programs this occurring again, it is not encouraged that the traditional family unit stay cohesive under these programs because then penalties can be assessed by way of reduction of benefits. Examine what happens if parents have a child and stay together compared to the amount of assistance that a single mother may receive if no father is present, the single mother will always receive more assistance in food stamps and welfare compensation then they would if a father was there to assist in the responsibility of providing for the child. This has led to a enslavement of the community by fiat to be dependent on a new "master" and that master is the Federal Government. A dark secret that many people do not want to speak of is the fact that Planned Parenthood was founded along the lines of segregation and targeted Eugenics. Today it is promoted as an organization that assists in promotion of birth control and a means for those that have become pregnant as a way to terminate an unwanted child, but the history of this organization is much darker and should be viewed in its true nature by those of the African American community. This organization found a home with the Democrat Party and has been promoted and funded by those who align themselves with this party, what fails to be mentioned is the fact that when it was founded and throughout its history the African American community has been its primary target. The founder Margret Sanger in her own words viewed African Americans from her book's Pivot of Civilization, " human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born." and from Woman's Body, Woman's Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America, "We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population." She worked tirelessly to bring about these programs of Eugenics and found willing supporters in the Democrat Party that shared these same views as segregation and division along racial lines was the norm of the party throughout its long history. Many can question has the party truly moved away from these roots or has it just attempted to cover up many of the truly darker aspects of its long history. One needs to question why it is that many that find a home with the Democrats are the ones that have promoted racial division, is it really to try to mend the injustices of the past or is it to continue the division that allows for people to be enslaved without their own knowledge. Neither political party is perfect, but to continue to revise history without allowing for the many truths to be told only allows for these divisions to continue. Programs that promote the continuation of dependency and punishes those that strive to rise out of that dependency is not lending a hand up but placing a boot upon the back that further enslaves those that were granted freedom so long ago. One only needs to look at how the struggles to bring about equality has been fought tooth and nail all along the way from desegregation in the military, to the desegregation in the schools in the 1950's and 1960's. Examine how the vote count took place and who actually were the leaders in opposition and who were pushing for the passages of these things to occur. Take a step back from what you may have been conditioned into believing for a moment and examine what many of these programs over time has truly lent to the African American community, has it promoted a strengthening of the family unit or has it led to a further breakdown of the family and the true strengths that allows future generations the ability that values and support that a cohesive family brings to the table. Can one say that promoting the very programs that restrains equality on the basis of individual merit and abilities the true pathway to bring about the elimination of discrimination and divide. When examined it is the African American community that has suffered the worst through the program of targeted abortion promoted by groups such as Planned Parenthood. What great future leader was lost? What devastating long term consequences has this targeted genocide inflicted upon the African American community as a whole? How has promoting the herding of many of this community into areas that abstract poverty and sub-par educational opportunities truly lent the ability of those who in this community the opportunity to have a different mindset then that of dependency? When leaders of this community speak out in opposition to many of these programs and promote alternatives, they have traditionally been cast aside and castigated because it goes against what has been ingrained over time through revision of history and the barriers that have been set in place over time. This is where an injustice to the community continues to take place and allows for the message and actions of those such as Dr. King and Fredrick Douglas to be minimized in the larger scope of the freedoms that the passage of the 13th Amendment sought by breaking the chains of slavery. When the truth of history is failed to be told and the actions of those that for political gain and suppression, the ability to allow true equality it becomes a means to keep people divided. We fail those who deserve equality the most and continue to promote the subjugation that those in the Democrat Party fought so long and hard for dating back throughout history with all of the programs that it has promoted. We cannot fully dismiss history just because we would like for it to not be told, just as we cannot dismiss the fact that for so long now it has been perceived that somehow the Democrat Party has been spun into the home for the African American community and that it has the best interests of this community at heart when a full examination just might reveal that it may not truly do so.
