Moving Forward Or Mired In The Past

History is a very fickle thing, it is one of the only things that no matter how much you might want to rewrite it the facts in the vast body of work is set in stone. We can blame this and that, we can look at the many factors that goes into what got us to this point, and we can debate those things till our faces turn blue. What many fail to do when all they want to do is stay divided and blame this or that is not look at what will move us from this point forward.

Many would like to stay within a bubble and not face the facts that many things do get us to the points that we are at, and that the solutions may not be what we have been led to believe. Many hang to things that maybe looked good in the last century such as strong Unions, I cannot blame them for that. They have been told this for much of their lives , but they being in the bubble fail to see that many of those things that are currently involved do not allow for a pathway forward and only hold us stagnant for the chance to dig us out of the hole. I do not blame those that feel that they deserve something when you look around at some of the things others might have, but that division (Class Warfare) is not the real solution to fixing the many problems we face. So I am not advocating that the Unions need to fade away as many do , but saying that they have to become part of the solution as well. Holding on to the Old Mantras will not allow this to happen no matter how loud it is spoken. Recognition of this fact will not occur at the leadership level but has to be done at the rank and file level. One needs to ask do you really follow the path of Socialism that when examined goes against what is the common held belief that it benefits the little guy. It does not. It widens the gap of the wealthy and the poor and makes those at the bottom even more dependent on those at the top, and allows less of a chance for those at the bottom to rise out of the hole. The same can be said for the mistakes of the leaders and those that hold the strings of power be it in the government or in private business. At no time can their mistakes be dismissed or forgotten. They cannot be rewritten either! But pitting one against the other as we allow will we really solve the problem? Will we stop the bleeding? No we will not! Just as The Unions cannot hold to practices of the past neither can those who shared the responsibility to getting us here. Yes the Unions and the People of power share in this responsibility no matter how folks want to revise it. We The People hold a shared responsibility as well and we have to recognize this as well. When we look to how all of this can lead down the path of strife and destruction in the streets one only needs to look to Europe as an example. What does that really prove? Nothing, just the fact that people will allow themselves to be led into servitude, I say this because history has shown it over and over again that this is what comes out of those divisions in the end. The hard things are going to have to occur and yes the Unions and its members will have to give some to allow it to happen. If they do not then we will never be able to dig out of the hole we are in. Private business and those in Unions that service those private business have had to begin to do this slowly and painfully, but that has been shown that if you want to compete those things have to occur. Same can be said about the public Unions and those at the top in the government and in private business, it has to be a shared accountability and solution! If you want to keep arguing till the cows come home to how we got here without doing the hard thing to move us forward keep at it, but it only delays a real recovery. History cannot be rewritten, but the future is a blank sheet ready to be filled. What will it be? Are we going to do the harder things or are we going to keep doing the things that got us here in the first place?
