Jewish War Veterans; Please Withdraw Your Lawsuit on Mt. Soledad

imageI can't believe that the national organization of Jewish War Veterans, represented by the despicable anti-Christian ACLU, has formally protested the presence of a memorial cross that has been on Mount Soledad near San Diego, CA for 37 years. They are not acting like American war veterans but more in fact like they are Muslim war veterans who oppose ANYTHING they don't like, whether it is particularly harmful to them or not.

Most of America supports all memorial recognition symbols when they are placed to honor our brave and giving of self war veterans. The cold-hearted person who finds fault with this very proper sign of thanks from the country for those who sacrificed the utmost for their country, should examine themselves for a colossal lack of care for others and a selfish uncaring attitude towards men who gave their lives for America, regardless of their religious beliefs. I am not aware of the identities or religious beliefs of all of the veterans interred at that site, but it really shouldn't matter as the intent of the placing of the cross has been a United States way of asking God to watch over and care for these warriors who gave their lives to help preserve our country. It further irritates me to think that by placing a marker of respect and brotherly love for those brave souls would be interpreted as 'establishing a religion' under the foolishly mis-used and mis-interpreted "separation of church and state" doctrine. Those service members gave their lives for our country and our country responded by providing a patch of land for their final resting place. The cross asks God to care for them in the hereafter. Don't make it another battleground for them. How any warped mind could see it in any other way, and in particular, to ESTABLISH a religion, is beyond my wildest thoughts. It shatters my faith in people when incidents such as this keep popping up; are we becoming so hateful and vicious in our feelings for veterans that we can't honor them with a symbol of care and love that is associated with nearly 80 percent of our population? Jewish people of all, should be most understanding of these honors; after all the vile and uncivilized treatment that they get from people of Islamic faith, they should be more in sympathy with others who wish to display a sign of love and caring treatment to those who didn't ask out of harms way just because they were of a certain faith. Ironically, according to David Ogul of SignOnSanDeigo online News on January 19, 2009, some local San Diego Jewish veterans including Allen Miliefsky, commander of Post 185 of Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America, the oldest active veterans group in the country oppose the national organization's legal efforts to remove the controversial cross perched conspicuously above the Mount Soledad war memorial. Most local members of Jewish War Veterans aren't offended by the cross. "I'm for leaving it alone," said Miliefsky, a longtime San Diego resident. "Let it be." I would like to ask the national organization of Jewish War Veterans to please reconsider your actions in this case and remove your official complaint against the cross on Mount Soledad. It is the proper and American thing to do. The veterans buried there deserve no less, be they Christian, Jewish, other faith or atheist.
