(NOT Obama's take-over of Egypt!)
Anti-Semitism and apathy in the White House = Obama, Egypt and a failed Foreign Policy

Winston Churchill, Nobel Prize winning British Prime Minister, World War II heroic strategist, honorary United States citizen as well as unabashed hero, friend and staunch ally to Israel, Judaism and the Jewish race astutely wrote of fundamentalist Islam and Muslims:
“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property - either as a child, a wife, or a concubine - must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science - the science against which it had vainly struggled - the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.”
In addition to Churchill’s well-known disdain for Islamism was his world-famous support for the nation of Israel as well as the Zionist Organization, as evidenced by his reaffirmation in 1922 ~ with the penning of the “Churchill White Paper” (also known as the British White Paper of 1922) ~ of the British position of 1917 that “[the Jews are] in Palestine as of right and not on the sufferance…”
In Churchill, the world had one of its most prominent supporters of the Jewish race AND one of its most forceful foes of Islamism; traits born from historical accuracies as were easily supported with a quick glance at ancient maps:
Radical Islamists murdered 3,000 innocent civilians on American soil on September 11, 2001. In a show of grace, solidarity and human compassion, the British government presented to the American government and citizenry the Churchill Bust ~ a symbol of American and British unity not only in the battle against terrorism, but likewise our two country’s reaffirmation to protect freedom and support the cause of Democracy the world over. The Churchill Bust stood proud in the Oval Office, for nearly a decade, to constantly remind visitors to ~ and residents of ~ the White House of the imperative nature of the battle against the Islamisation of the world.
Obama’s first order of business upon taking up residence in the White House was to return the beloved gift so graciously dedicated to our country. Packing up the Churchill Bust, returning it to the British government without cause or explanation, Obama slighted 3,000 innocents, the compassion of the British people, the spirit of Winston Churchill as well as that leader’s sentiment for the Jewish race, and set in motion a foreign policy of cynical isolationism not witnessed by the United States since well before the first world war. Obama’s first insidious gesture against Israel, Bibi Netanyahu, the Jewish race, and America’s foreign allies in general would be far from his last.
At the end of March 2010, Bibi was scheduled to meet with Obama for presentation of the former’s plans targeted to satiate Obama’s demands for the cessation of Israeli expansion. Routinely scheduled for such meetings are the proverbial photo shoots with the media—crudely scrapped by Obama for this event. Also customary, polite, and well, down-right expected, is dinner between heads of state when such meetings are scheduled. So disgruntled with that inaugural meeting was Obama however, that he literally left the room, stating with contempt to the leader of Israel, “let me know if there is anything new”. The Jewish community was infuriated, leading Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America to label the insulting comment, “racist”. So infuriated was Netanyahu by his treatment that it led to accusations of “hazing”, with Netanyahu’s newspapers stating it was “treatment reserved for the President of Equatorial Guinea”. Faux pas? Gaffe? NO; a trend in the making!
“A Turkish backed flotilla, against the warnings of Israel (also ignoring the invitation by Egypt), and harboring what many reports called mercenaries (confirmed as carrying gas masks and other non-humanitarian related cargo), under cover of nightfall, sailed towards Gaza at the end of May, 2010. Sailing into hostile waters, the flotilla was warned to turn back, as this region has been sealed off by blockade to secure Israel from further bloodshed as it endured when Hamas took control of Gaza three years ago. When the flotilla continued its course, Israeli troops descended and took control of the flotilla. International outrage against Israel ensued, as the world was convinced this flotilla was humanitarian in nature, yet Obama refused to weigh in for days; other than to, in classic form, throw Hillary under the bus, having her comment that this situation in Gaza was, “unsustainable and unacceptable.” When Obama finally DID gesture towards the Middle East, his response was NOT a gesture towards the true victim, Israel. It would be to invite Mahmoud Abbas to the White House—the first week of June 2010—to sign a U.S. taxpayer-backed check for nearly a billion dollars towards “aide” for the Palestinians.” draintheswamp2010.wordpress.com
That check to Abbas, the actions against Israel and Netanyahu, the blatant, arrogant ally-destroying maneuvers by Barrack Hussein Obama to include INACTION time and again as Israel faces attack or intimidation—not to mention marginalization of Judaism (and Christianity) in the one religious holiday Obama was forced to recognize ~ The National Day of Prayer ~ (very much to his chagrin)—serve to etch in stone the promise made when he swore to Abbas, Palestine, Arabs, and the world that: Jerusalem will belong to the Palestinians. Obama, through his own easily substantiated words, actions and deeds, has established a foreign policy agenda (particularly with respects to the Middle East and Israel) based on isolationism at best; appeasement of Israel’s foes while mistreating the Jewish State at worst.
Should it come as any surprise then that a recent Pew Research Center Survey of Egyptian adults reported that less than a third polled responded that they thought the U.S. (and Obama) would “do the right thing” with respects to world politics? Egypt is in turmoil. The Egyptian government has become too stifling for many in the country; Mubarak, to hear the protestors, must go. And just as Obama did with the Turkish mercenaries, Hillary was sent to a nearby microphone, the press secretary posited a thought or two, but Obama has said precious little. Compared to the flotilla incident, however, as some of his new-found lemmings are cheering, number 44 appears positively presidential. Also consistent with previous tumultuous events in the Middle East during Obama’s (my God 2 years have slogged on slowly) tenure (Russian arming of Iranian nuclear reactors anyone?), Barack has elected to allow for situations on the ground to swell to such a monumental degree that the media and citizenry of his own country are now insisting that he himself as well as his administration MUST have been the instigators of the Egyptian crisis in the first place.
History has demonstrated that Egypt has a long and tattered past; deeply filled with anarchy, treachery, and mistrust of a ruling monarchy, dastardly evil, corrupt, bigoted, racist governments, and brief interludes of attempted peace and yet a consistent underlying murmur of tension kept alive by radical fundamentalist political extremists ~ ever-ready to exploit the next economic disturbance. The Islamic Khedive, Muhammad Ali (reign 1805—1848) subjected his people to oppressive taxation, nationalizing their land, and monopolizing trade and production trough annexation towards his goal of personal wealth building as well as amassing a military might to overthrow the Ottomans and challenge the Christian European nations. His offspring, through inheritance becoming Sultans and then Kings to rule until 1952, would enter into dealings with the United Kingdom, continuing overt taxation upon their own people to build the Suez Canal. Unable to fulfill financial commitments to the British, Ali’s progeny would essentially sell Egyptian governmental control to the Europeans. Through no fault of the West or the citizenry, Egypt became a British Protectorate.
Wars, internal battles, upheavals and protests similar to today’s Cairo crisis gave rise to a military coup that would result in the removal of the monarchy. The bloody 1952 Revolution established a military controlled government headed by a group calling themselves the “Free Officers’ Movement”. Developing a Revolution Command Council (RCC) and naming General Muhammad Naguib as the first president of Egypt, the new government’s first test of mettle was confronting the murderous Muslim Brotherhood (established in the 1920s); the same Muslim Brotherhood attempting to take control of Egypt’s now-imploding government today.
Failing to resolve the conflict, giving way to mayhem and assassinations similar to those that had resulted in the Brotherhood’s banishment years earlier by the government of the 1940s, (the Muslim Brotherhood assassinated government officials in the 1940s as well as their own leader who condemned the killings) the RCC leadership overthrew then president Naguib, murdered several members of the Brotherhood, and installed Gamal Abdel Nasser ~ the man they considered their true mastermind ~ as the second president of Egypt.
Under Nasser (ca 1956), the Suez Canal would be retaken through terrorism; Europeans and Jews would be ethnically cleansed from Egypt; Christians, Jews and Europeans would have their property seized; and all corporations with ties to Europeans, Jews or Christians were nationalized by law for the purpose of being “Egyptionalyzed”.
In 1967, Nasser (on word from the Soviets) began amassing forces along the Israeli border; in defiance of the 1949 Armistice Agreements, leading to the Six-Day War. Three years later, upon his death, another former “Free Officer” and once voice of the movement during the 1952 Revolution ~ Anwar Sadat ~ would become Egypt’s third president.
Factors separating Egypt’s 3rd leader from his notorious predecessor included a shift away from the Soviet Union as an ally, particularly in light of the Cold War, as well as seemingly renewed negotiations with Israel (after, that is, the Yom Kippur War of 1973). Sadat would reopen his nation to outside investors as well, ~ known as Infitah ~ paving the way for Western free market capitalism.
Perhaps his most lasting legacy, for the Western world, would be his peace accord with Israel, and his Nobel Peace Prize winning treaty signed with Menachem Begin. As history has told, Sadat’s reign was cut short by the assassin’s bullet. His accord with Israel terribly unpopular within the Arab and Islamic world ~ resulting in the expulsion of Egypt from the Arab League and the exiting of the League from Cairo ~ Sadat’s attempts at unity resulted in him being forever a marked man. Islamic fundamentalists assassinated President Sadat in October of 1981, along with dignitaries who were in attendance at the annual parade to celebrate Egypt’s crossing of the Suez Canal.
And now, Hosni Mubarak, Egypt’s 4th president and longest running ruler since Ali. Hosni Mubarak has been a consistent supporter of attempts to bring peace to the region, principally aligning with Benjamin Netanyahu in efforts to reduce Arab-Israeli tensions. Mubarak, in support of the American government, as well as in further allegiance to Israel, in 2009 banned the Cairo Anti-war Conference. This conference, which has been criticized (by its attendees) in the past for laying blame solely on America for all that ails the Middle East ~ while ignoring the obviously morally reprehensible actions of certain Arab leaders ~ consistently results in anti-Western sentiments similar to views posited by Egyptian leaders of the early 20th century. Mubarak, perhaps attempting to avoid the civil unrest of recent history, in addition to controlling the Muslim Brotherhood (and similar deeply corrupt nationalist political wings) through extending a state of national Emergency Law, elected to ban the Cairo Conference effective 2009.
These actions by Mubarak to stabilize his nation have led to an obvious perception by the populace at large of overt government control. Adding fuel to the fire, the rampant fraud and intimidation witnessed at recent Egyptian elections only proved to substantiate claims by Egyptians seeking democracy that their current leaders are out of touch with the desires and needs of the people. Had Mubarak resisted such RCC/ACORN styled fraud, and had Obama as well as his administration stepped in to quell the resulting uprising when it occurred last November ~ to a greater extent than to simply gloss over the events with a cursory statement of “we’re dismayed” ~ perhaps the conspiracy theorists wouldn’t be so vociferously running amuck these days.
But this is classic Obama. Have we as a nation not deduced that yet? When it comes to the Middle East, particularly when it comes to issues at they pertain to potential threats to Israel, Obama will ALWAYS deal with the issue in one of several predictable ways:
- Instruct Hillary to find a microphone,
- Drag his pseudo-isolationist feet until the absolute last possible moment,
- Or align with the party or player who most supports his anti-Israel platform.
However, and this is critical, Obama has yet to exemplify a character trustworthy to the Egyptian people. Likewise, the Egyptian people have yet to illustrate that they are willing to accept American involvement in this process they are working through. American journalists have been attacked ~ physically as well as verbally ~ by pro as well as anti-Mubarak demonstrators. Egyptians, in case no one is noticing, do NOT want American intervention. History be damned (if the 30 somethings even have a clue about history) as to how the U.S. has backed Egypt (from the Suez Crisis right up to last week); THESE Egyptians are done with Americans.
So how then are the conspiracy theories taking hold? Why are people in the States and beyond buying in to this whole notion that somehow Obama has something to do with the Egyptian crisis? Yes, his patent disconnect with the processes in the Middle East could signal to allies (and foe alike) that America simply couldn’t care less how the rest of the world conducts its business; perhaps resulting in countries running wild in the sand box. But launching the rumor mill that the feckless Obama is a puppet master for an Egypt and its people who have run this gamut time and again for centuries is tantamount to suggesting Carter perpetrated the Islamic Revolution.
The Muslim Brotherhood hates America. The people running through the streets of Egypt hate America. The Egyptian people do not trust Obama. The Egyptian people do not trust America to “do the right thing.” What possible hegemonic government do the conspiracy theorists think Obama is going to install in Egypt? Are we as followers of these conspiracy spinners to believe that the decades of Sadat-ism and 30 years of relative peace under Mubarak can be eliminated by a “president” who still “hasn’t visited all 57 states”?
A growing number of people taking to the streets in Egypt like their government and are expressing mixed feelings about Mubarak’s demise. Egypt is an American ally. Egypt is an Israeli ally. And Mubarak is not now, nor has he ever been Obama’s puppet. So perhaps it rankles Obama to have Mubarak at the White House for a state dinner. Perhaps Obama would just as soon treat Mubarak in the same manner as Netanyahu has been handled. Perhaps there is another “Churchill Bust” somewhere, ready for the UPS man. No doubt, relations between the U.S. and Egypt (thanks in no small part to the great apologizer) are strained.
But for God’s sake people, Egypt has enough on its hands already.
Stop with the injurious, libelous conspiracy theories.
It’s just Obama ~ he ain’t that smart.
