"...Ron Paul has done more for the cause of liberty and constitutional government than any man in the 20th Century. In fact, as Juan Williams observes, America has now entered 'The age of Ron Paul.'" --(Chuck Baldwin)
It is a bittersweet feeling, because while the Revolution that Ron Paul started is gaining momentum by leaps and bounds, its instigator and figurehead is apparently headed for retirement. Dr. Paul has said that
he will not run for Congress again after his term is up.
Fortunately, the "Ron Paul Revolution" was never about just Ron Paul--it was, and is, about liberty; about freedom -- and as such it does not begin or end with one man. It belongs to "we the people," and therefore it is our responsibility to carry the torch forward.
Although Ron Paul has been shunned by the GOP political elites, his message has resonated with "we the people," and Paul has garnered a broad base of support--from
both sides of the political spectrum.
And you had better believe that
scares the powers that be. They have done all they could to marginalize, discredit, and
dismiss Dr. Paul, and yet his message still got through and reached enough of us, so that they will be forced to incorporate
some of his "planks" into the GOP Party platform.
Barring some sort of "
black swan event," Mitt Romney will be nominated as the Republican presidential candidate this week. Some folks will consider that to be justification for slit wrists and cliff diving--I'm not one of them.
Although I am not what you would call a Romney
aficionado, I am much more concerned with the influence of the neocons (neo-conservatives) as a whole, than with one man.
Two important things to keep in mind about
the neocons are: (1) they never met a war they didn't like; and (2) they
love big government. The thing is, they are not truly conservative at all--not in the traditional sense of someone who believes in a limited federal government and the sanctity of the US Constitution.
Although I suppose you could say it all depends on what your definition of "is" is. I say that a neocon is not really a conservative at all, and what we have in the United States these days are two political parties that are
both ideologically left of center--
both of which support and promote big government.
And if the Obama Administration is anything to go by, then the liberal elites are now every bit as hawkish as neocons. The main difference seems to be that the neocons want an American hegemony (
Pax Americana--or rather,
bellum Americanum), while the liberals want America downsized in order to "redistribute the wealth" (not
their wealth mind you--
your wealth).
In any event, "we the people" have been, are being, and will be screwed by two political parties that value the state more than personal liberty, and rules and regulations more than freedom. What are we going to do about that?
Ron Paul has shown us the way. We must turn to the US Constitution, and once again give it the respect that it deserves and demands. We need to give it "teeth" once more.
Oh and it might not be a bad idea to audit the Federal Reserve (which is neither federal, nor a reserve). In fact,
abolishing the Fed would be the way to go. "We the people"
can do it, but it won't be easy.
Regardless of who gets the nod to run as the Republican presidential candidate, it is wise to keep in mind that the presidential race is only
one race among thousands nationwide. Who wins the presidential race will almost be a moot point if "we the people" see to it that there is a great influx of conservative constitutionalists swept into office on November 6. There is no good reason to stay home on Election Day.
In closing, I wish to thank Dr. Paul for being a man of integrity, character and vision--I hold him in high esteem indeed. However, I do wish that he would spend a little time discussing some of the less endearing aspects of Islam with
Representative Bachmann and others.
P.S. 2013 will be the 100
th anniversary of the founding of the Fed. Let's give them an anniversary present they won't forget--it would make a nice retirement gift for Dr. Paul
