Divide and Conquer

From the “Hope and Change” rhetoric of 2008, Barack Obama has modified his theme to “Divide and Conquer,” but he hasn’t put it on a bumper sticker. In fact, he hasn’t mentioned it once. I guess he’s hoping the rest of us won’t notice. But for the past four years, this president has either blamed his predecessor, President George W. Bush, for his woes, or practiced class warfare par excellence. He has pitted different segments of society against others, as he cleverly demonized one side in an effort to gain support from the other.
For instance, he plays the race card with regularity as he sets whites against blacks. He invokes income disparity to pit rich against poor. He depicts conservatives as a stupid, uneducated, backwoods population that clings to its God and its guns, while portraying liberals as enlightened, educated, and urbane with the proper worldview. With a few words he manages to make enemies of city dwellers and country people. And we cannot forget his great skill in denigrating the efforts of entrepreneurs by saying, “You didn’t build that.” The divide and conquer tactic is the only thing left to Obama because we all know he can’t run on his record. Since he took office, the size and cost of government; government intrusion into personal lives; gas prices; and the cost of living have all exploded. The economy, our wallets, our privacy, our rights, and our retirements have all shrunk. His signature piece of legislation, Obamacare, will cost us almost three times the original prediction; come between us and our doctors; empower bureaucrats to decide who gets what therapies; and will use taxpayer money to fund abortions, contraceptives, and sterilizations despite promises to the contrary.

The opposition to this law didn’t matter. He insisted on it and he managed to ram it through Congress using subtle and not so ethical rules changes in the Senate. He managed to make it the law of the land without any input from the Republicans or the people. I’m surprised he managed with the process at all. Yet, despite Obamacare’s passage, it has failed to provide health insurance to the 30 million people it was supposed to cover. I admonish each and every American to think very hard about their vote this November. With less than two months until that fateful day, I want each of you to realize that this is the most critical election in this nation’s history. If Barack Obama regains the White House, he will step on the gas and accelerate our headlong rush into socialism and ultimately our destruction as a great nation. America will be no more. If Mitt Romney wins the Oval Office, he and his Vice President Paul Ryan will work very hard to reverse some of the terrible damage done by Obama during his term in office and take us back to the Constitution, belief in American exceptionalism, and American greatness. Don’t let him divide us. Don’t let him conquer us.
