Dealing with Obamacare

"There are going to be consequences," was the response by a Washington D.C. law employment attorney when asked about how the federal government will deal with businesses that do what they can to avoid the insurance mandate in Obamacare set to take effect in 2014. Businesses are saying that there likely will be cut hours, and layoffs.

The Democrats believe the world is static, and so whenever they push their big government programs, they assume society will just comply. If the populace refuses to do as it is told by the ruling elite, then mandates can be put into place to make sure they do. "After all," the thinking of these elitists says, "we know best regarding what is for their own good." Unintended consequences emerge every time liberal policies are put forth, and then the liberal left doesn't know how to deal with it. Naturally, when faced with disobedience by the public, statists resort to playing hard ball. "There are going to be consequences" is a common phrase uttered by tyranny. The fact is, the world is not static. Human nature will always respond against centralized control in ways that are not compliant in the eyes of the overlords. We are individuals, and as individuals, the members of the human race reject the idea of somebody claiming to know-it-all to tell us what, and how, to do something - especially when we know by experience what is best for ourselves, our families, and our means of providing for living life. If Barack Obama is reelected, the full implementation of Obamacare is inevitable, so business owners and CEOs are working on ways to avoid the mandates and business-killing aspects of the Affordable Care Act. One avenue they are looking at is to reduce the size of their full-time workforce, which would change America from a nation of full-time employment to a society filled with part-time jobs that fall short in providing enough income to take care of a family. Some businesses are looking to even reduce the size of their company, increasing the massive number of unemployed Americans, while expecting more production out of less workers. According to David Siegel, CEO of Westgate Resorts, this would mean "... fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone." It is apparent that the increased burden of Obamacare is not good for capitalism in the United States. One may suggest, from the Democrat Party's point of view, "That's the idea."
