Subjugation and manipulation of black Americans has been the left’s single most successful endeavor

The Press and the Race Card Gambit

Early in the election cycle, I indicated my belief that the Obama campaign itself would likely leave the race-baiting to its surrogates, rather than directly engaging in same. Bearing in mind that there’s still time left to prove me wrong, my supposition has pretty much held up thus far. The relish with which said surrogates have flung the race card about has not only surpassed the 2008 election cycle, but has included some of the most craven, despicable – and now desperate – race-based rhetoric I’ve heard in decades.
The National Urban League has commenced airing a series of advertisements disguised as PSAs “as part of its broad, civic engagement campaign to ‘Occupy the Vote’ and repeal unnecessary barriers to voting.” Featuring black celebrities such as Angela Bassett, Eric Benet, and Kim Coles, one of the television spots makes furtive allusions to shadowy figures conspiring to deny blacks the right to vote. This is a reference to recent efforts to combat voter fraud, which have been met with charges of racially-based voter suppression by the Democrat Party, for reasons that should be obvious by now. The ad closes with none other than notorious poverty pimp Rev. Al Sharpton admonishing viewers to vote. “Black” people are never mentioned, of course, but the message is quite evident, as is who they should be voting for. No entity has been a greater offender in the area of destabilizing race relations in America than the establishment press (“mainstream media” to some). Their shrill reporting of late and sycophantic devotion to President Obama have even been fodder for late-night comedians. If for no other reason than purveying widespread race propaganda can be dangerous, one would think that there would be some level of restraint exercised by the press, but almost none has been shown.

I have maintained for a long while that the subjugation and manipulation of black Americans has been the left’s single most successful endeavor. Along with conservatives’ desire to re-educate homosexuals, befoul the planet, and invade women’s uteri, they have cultivated beliefs on the part of blacks that defy all reason. The comportment of the press concerning race is a manifestation of the left’s anxiety and distraction; it’s the same brand as talking heads who offer outlandish predictions concerning a certain Obama victory, skewed polls, and the like – but this doesn’t make it any less inflammatory. Speaking of skewed polls: On October 27, the Associated Press released the results of what is probably one of the most biased, irresponsible, and agenda-driven surveys in the history of polling. In an article entitled “Majority harbor prejudice against blacks,” two AP journalists disseminate the results of this dubious effort with language that sounds like something we might have heard from black activists forty years ago. The survey claims, as they put it, that “racial attitudes have not improved in the four years since the United States elected its first black president… a slight majority of Americans now express prejudice toward blacks whether they recognize those feelings or not”[emphasis added]. Whites apparently have an only slightly higher opinion of Latinos than blacks, and feel far less threatened by Asians. I can only imagine what sort of leading questions were posed in this survey, and with what manner of subjective lens was used to interpret the answers, but the aggregate content of the resulting article spoke to the objective at least as much as the results. What followed the so-called findings were comments from “leading experts” in academia and African-American studies, a group that tends to be only slightly less biased than the Black Panther Party, albeit significantly more articulate. A thread that wound its way through this bilge was the contention that there are whites who are “hard-wired” toward racial animas. To me, this is analogous to suggesting that Jews are hard-wired to be stingy, or that blacks are hard-wired to steal. If his socialist-Marxist policies hadn’t done enough to disillusion Americans, Obama’s prevarication on the issue of Benghazigate alone has served to substantially hollow out his political grave more than anything else. Yet white racism – which apparently did not exist in 2008, since Obama did manage to get elected – appears to be all the rage now. According to numerous press accounts, this is the reason for Obama’s low approval rating among mainstream Americans. I believe that touching off civil unrest has been “on the table” for a long time as far as this administration goes. I am not sure if they see this as inevitable or a contingency, but it occurs to me that doing so with racial tension as a catalyst would be a mighty convenient course for them to take, either immediately before or after the election, should Romney emerge the victor. Whether the press is unwittingly going along with the program, or is in direct collusion with the Obama administration scarcely matters in a practical sense if we wind up with the same unfortunate – and potentially deadly – results.
