John Kerry, Active Duty Hijinx, Presidential Pardon, Obama's Choice

The Winter Soldier of Our Discontent

Boy, oh, boy, you really have to give the Democrat Party and its current Dear Leader, President Barack Hussein Obama (D-CT), a hearty "Huzzah" for using a long shovel-handled pitchfork to reach way down into the proverbial flag bag, as always happens in the second term when the personnel pickings are few and far between, and coming up with Senator John Kerry's (D-MA) patrician name to fill the newly opened slot of Secretary of Defense (SecDef).
However, though the once highly decorated Vietnam veteran threw his medals away in a fit of manufactured television pique (though many of us thought he threw someone else's away), he does have a Purple Heart license plate from MA with the Arabic numeral 4, are we sure he's the right guy for this demanding job with this single reed thin bonafide? Or if you view the 46 hours of his self produced 16mm Vietnam "jungle" movies which feature him doing the same dance over and over, replete in cloth covered helmet, wet green BDU's, flak vest, and jungle boots, crashing through the waist high delta swail with his muddy entourage in tow, as he grunts and grimaces and hollers meaningless commands and wildly gesticulates towards an empty horizon, while his people, man, just stare back at him in abject terror as he turns his M-16 toward them while screeching imprecations. Whew. "Cut!" Don't these stuttering fading frames reveal the heated maniacal ravings of a psychopath seeking to instantly construct a soldier's reputation from raw film? Film to be shown later in Boston as proof of his service, bravery, and leadership?

There have been questions swirling about this uptight outré patrician concerning both his service in Vietnam and his later sublime caterwauling before Congress as leader of the self-styled Winter Soldiers. While the whole production of these Winter Soldiers, seen through the lens of forty years, seems outrageous for the outright lies they told, the whole affair was all the more scandalous and outrageous because the Democrats in control of that Congress lapped up this inane Kerry-led vaudevillian schtick like a row of thirsty water buffaloes, finally reaching the Nile, knees bent, snoots eye deep in the water, slurping, just as did the major TV networks and much of the print media. In totally unsubstantiated testimony (just as it stands today), in 1971, in the company of lesser bit players and other shills for the cause, many who were found to have never served in Vietnam, let alone be entitled to wear the uniforms, airborne wings, Special Forces insignia, and medals they so gaily sported for the newsreels and the crowd, Mr. Kerry stated under oath, "...they (American soldiers) had personally cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan..." The scurrilous, and some would say treasonous, activities of John Kerry, the VVAW, and the Winter Soldiers heaped an outrageous amount of opprobrium on honest soldiers, during wartime, which forever tainted their valorous service in Vietnam. And these actions, conducted from the national podium by the former St. Paul's and Yale man, which at the time lent some small credit to these wild imputations, would finally drive many of my fellow vets into drug and alcohol induced stupors here, those which Mr. Kerry had so vividly described before Congress as taking place overseas.

Perjury before Congress

But his activities as a Winter Soldier, such as perjury before Congress, were problematic because Mr. Kerry was still a serving Naval officer. However, due to the folderol surrounding Watergate, he was never prosecuted for his behavior. His actions later fell under President Jimmy Carter's pardons. Mr. Kerry's pardon led to his successful political career. Thank you, Jimmy Carter. The primary Winter Soldier and hard core VVAW veteran later explained during our war in Iraq (in 2005), by taking a page directly from his Vietnam-era playbook, which is still shared among his fellow progressives in today's Congress, "And there is no reason (in ground combat, mind you), Bob (Schieffer), that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking the sort of customs of the -- of -- the historical customs, of (Muslim) religious customs." No reason at all in an unconventional war to raid certain homes at night, especially if you have intelligence leading you to these specific houses, unless you want to lose, a course always preferred and wholeheartedly charted by the Senator. "If you don't (study hard) you get stuck in Iraq," the one time presidential contender, habitual mini-cam chasing, occasional Boston politico, and the man who slept in his auto between wives, intoned imperiously before the assembled coeds on Hallowe'en 2006 at Pasadena College in California, little knowing that his derogatory remarks directly directed at the low aptitude of our troops might rebound to his detriment, with later remarks thrown back at him from veterans like President Bush to the National Commander of the American Legion.

Mr. John Kerry, a staunch long time member of the cut and run anti-war crowd

We know that Mr. John Kerry, a staunch long time member of the cut and run anti-war crowd, an effete liberal, a man so very concerned with fear mongering, wants the US to lose, to redeploy so far away that it amounts to a surrender, or offer an immediate date of departure so our enemies will insure our defeat, and appease the agents of terror with whatever means and instruments they may at once demand and require at the moment of our departure, and if it's really necessary, fly to Tehran to surrender to the leaders of the new Caliphate. And so Mr. Kerry continues demonstrating his distaste for the military, showing that he is still locked forever in 1971, the year of his greatest Vietnam-era media exploits, however fictional, sensational, and successful they really were. Does this sound like the man ready to fill the shoes of Donald Rumsfeld, Caspar Weinberger, Dick Cheney, or Robert McNamara? While a Democrat may slit your throat for disagreeing with Obama's choice for SecDef, this act won't make John F. Kerry any more of a credible Secretary of Defense.
