Supposedly sulking, “deport myself”-promising Piers Morgan is CNN’s main hope of boosting the lowest television viewership among the cable networks. When CNN dives lower than MSNBC, losing out to the likes of Chris Matthews, they’ve got big problems. Morgan is having a field day at least figuratively speaking, shooting up Americans ready to stand strong for their constitutional protected gun rights. Google it, Piers. It’s called the Second Amendment. But is Piers Morgan all that passionately against gun owners, or is he spinning the cotton candy to get host network CNN nudged back up in the ratings?
Morgan hints in this morning’s Daily Mail that he may “deport myself”. “The concerted effort to get me thrown out of the country--which has so far gathered more than 90,000 signatures struck me as rather ironic given that by expressing my opinion I was merely exercising my rights as a legal U.S. resident, under the 1st Amendment, which protects free speech.” (Daily Mail, Dec. 30, 2012). So you’re going to give up your plum CNN job and deport yourself all because of a White House petition? Seems to some that some Brits take flight for the flimsiest of reasons.

To any plain-speaking American, getting out of the country simply means ‘leaving’. To Piers Morgan, who’s convinced his every belch means something to a world waiting breathlessly for his next word, it means he “may” deport himself. Liberals take a long time leaving. We’re still waiting on Alec Baldwin et al. In the case of Piers Morgan, deport himself where? His former Britain’s Got Talent partner Simon Cowell is losing ratings too. “In the days following Sandy Hook, I interviewed a number of gun rights representatives and grew increasingly furious as they trotted out these hackneyed old disingenuous lines,” Morgan told the Daily Mail. “Finally I erupted at one of them, a man with the unfortunate name of Larry Pratt, who runs the Gun Owners of America lobby group. You, I eventually declared, are an unbelievably stupid man.” Speaking of “unfortunate” names. Morgan was Cowell’s sidekick on a program named Britain’s Got Talent. Like most soft-headed, mushy Socialists, Morgan assumes Americans loathe Brits: “It’s no exaggeration to say that America’s unique fondness for guns pretty much got cemented by hatred of us Brits and the War of Independence,” he posits. Rather than speaking for an entire nation as an imported CNN Television host, “Us Brits” should remember, that it was the Brits who vastly outnumbered American War of Independence patriots by soldiers trained as the best in the entire world, but the Americans who sent the Redcoats on the run. And “Hatred of us Brits”, Mr. Morgan was not apparent when the Yanks came twice to Britain’s rescue during the First and Second World Wars. Meanwhile, CNN may drop to the bottom without you, but America never will.
