Pelosi: Congressional pay cut would undermine the ‘dignity’ of the job

We've seen a whole lot of crazy tumble from the mouth of California Representative Nancy Pelosi, but this bit is just priceless.

Nancy is worried about the sequester, which will force across-the-board-federal cuts. Nearly every level of government will be affected and, since it doesn't look like there will be any deal to avert it, federal agencies are looking for ways to cut corners without cutting workers. One of the proposals involves a Congressional pay cut, and Pelosi is displeased. "I don't think we should do it; I think we should respect the work we do," Pelosi said today. "I think it's necessary for us to have the dignity of the job that we have rewarded." Nancy went on to acknowledge that she's rather well-to-do, and therefore it probably won't matter much...at least, not to her. "It's a hard question to ask me because most of my colleagues are the breadwinners in their families," she said. "A pay cut to me doesn't mean as much." So, a woman who constantly chastises the rich for not paying their fair share is so comfortable that a pay cut won't matter. Doesn't that mean Pelosi herself is not paying her fair share? Shouldn't she offer to take less, because she can afford to? "From each according to his ability," right Nancy?
