Britain no place for Americans to run to

Lawyers claiming that huge numbers of Americans are renouncing citizenship to become British thanks to tax rise are having us on. “London-based American lawyers, who specialise in tax and immigration, report a threefold increase over the last five years in the number of American citizens who are giving up their citizenship--a process known as “renunciation”. “Across the world 1,781 Americans renounced their citizenship in 2011 compared with just 231 in 2008, when US tax laws changed, although it remains unknown how many are adopting British rather than any other nationality.” (telegraph.co.uk, March 2, 2013.)

Some 34,000 Americans were granted visas to work and study in Canada last year, and 35,000 Americans came to the Land of the Maple Leaf the year before. But neither Canadians or Americans are claiming exodus status. Even with these numbers Americans lag as fourth on the list in the 252,179 new immigrants admitted to Canada in 2009. People from the Republic of China top the list at 29,049, followed by the Philippines (27,277) and India (26,122). Only three thousand separate permanent residents from the USA (9,723) and Iran (6,065). Advocates of the American- Fleeing-to-Britain-in-Great-Numbers theory must think that all Americans belong in the newly-minted “low information American” category. Given the almost daily loss of individual rights under the policies of two-term President Barack Obama, there can be little doubt that countless Americans at least consider flight from ‘ObamaLand’, the Marxist state being arranged under Obama’s promise to fundamentally transform America. Their health care compares with the one Obama is imposing on America; the economic downturn’s no better there than in the U.S.; the Prince of Wales kisses up to radical Islamists and wants them included in his role of “Defender of the Faiths”; and in their latest move Britain wants to tax its population on antiques and jewelry its members thought they owned. Besides milketoast, blow-with-any-wind David Cameron’s there. When it comes to liberty and freedom being replaced by corrupt Big Government, the world has become a smaller place with no place to hide. Britain, just like America and France is led by a loser of a leader. Only days ago, Prime Minister David Cameron, an open Obama admirer, made it clear he wouldn’t be “lurching to the right”. The only lurching Cameron ever does is out on the tennis courts. The harsh reality is that Death by Double Taxation is the fate of Americans renouncing their citizenship to the Brits. The US tax return process requires all Americans to pay tax on their total income regardless of where they live. In other words, even if a US citizen earns all their income in high tax-Britain, they are liable for tax in their home country. And that’s not even adding Davey Cameron’s take. Human memory, which sometimes does not even recollect just yesterday, may not immediately recall that it was the incessant and nauseating British taxes on America that saw America the Beautiful take birth in the first place. The Founding Fathers were right to boot the redcoats out of their land and lovers of unrevised history know there is no going back. The biggest problem for finding freedom today is that there is nowhere to run. Western leaders worldwide are abandoning their leadership duties for personal gain and have all run off to boot march in the growing global armies of the Politically Correct. Among unaccountable western leaders of the day, Barack Obama and David Cameron aren’t unique, they’re only the two worst.
