After all of the apocalyptic howling over the possibility of not increasing 2013 spending by a meager $85 billion, perhaps we could have saved ourselves a whopping quarter billion by not shipping it off via John Kerry to Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood leader, Mohammed Morsi; hater of Israel, friend of Hamas.
That $250 million was only a down payment on $1 billion pledged by Obama in 2011.
Kerry broadcast his delusions about being "hopeful" about working with a Muslim Brotherhood government back before he became our Secretary of State. Kerry may think the Brotherhood is a reasonable bunch of fellows, but some in congress take a less sanguine view of the Morsi led government.
Kerry's current excuse for genuflecting to the Brotherhood leader is his understanding of their version of democracy. Which, of course, looks nothing like actual democracy.
Cnsnews.com points out that things have gone so badly in Egypt that in just the past two months, six separate initiatives have been introduced on Capitol Hill aiming to limit aid to Egypt.
Not everyone in congress agrees with Obama and Kerry that taxpayer funds should be used to support Hamas. It's especially galling when the president has been threatening us for weeks about the merciless results of sequester.
I know how we could have saved ourselves $250 billion and done the world some good at the same time.
