Miniseries will offer millions a new reason not to watch NBC

NBC announces several new horror miniseries, including 4 hour Hillary Clinton biopic

Over the weekend, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt appeared at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour. There, he announced that his network would be producing three new horror miniseries. They are: a remake of Stephen King's "The Tommyknockers," a multi-part adaptation of "Rosemary's Baby," and a four hour biopic centered on Hillary Clinton.
Hillary will be played by Diane Lane, with whom she shares an uncanny resemblance. There's no word yet on who's going to tackle the role of her husband, former President Bill Clinton. If you're worried the fun will be bogged down with scandals like Vince Foster, Hillary-Care, Whitewater, and Filegate, you can relax. The series is going to skip all of that. It will begin with her heroic decision to stand by her husband during the Monica Lewinsky affair, carry through her New York Senate victory, and chronicle her magnanimous decision to step aside so that the United States could enjoy its first African American President.

While it should cover her tenure as Secretary of State, this is NBC we're talking about. You can rest assured that it will probably focus solely on the agony and sorrow she felt during the Benghazi attacks - which no one could possibly have predicted or prevented. Of course, the network is nothing if not fair. It's not going to air a multi-night campaign commercial televisual event while Hillary's running for President. If it did, it would probably have to give equal time to the Republicans. According to NBC, the show will air just before the campaign begins, to avoid the appearance of impropriety. "She's not going to declare her candidacy for two more years, so I think it will be the late spring or early summer of '15 that she will declare," Greenblatt said. "This could well have aired before that. We have to talk through all that." Clearly, she's not running yet, and no one is talking about it, so there's no conflict of interest here. Expect to see an announcement of their other new show - "Rand Paul and Ted Cruz trigger the apocalypse" - any day now.
