An Inconsistent Truth- A Film Worth Seeing

The IPCC (The Intergovernmental Panel on climate Change) just presented its most recent assessment report, the fifth in 23 years. It has chosen to deliberately attempt to obscure the reality of an ongoing temperature standstill and the failure of its models. The editor-in-chief of the Basler Zeitung, Markus Somm, said this about the report, “It appears defensive. It is a masterpiece of dosed prophecy. Had Moses taken the same approach, he would not have convinced a single Jew to leave Egypt. In no paper from science or politics have I read the word 'probable' or improbable' so often.” (1) The report is another attempt to deceive people into believing that the world is at risk from rising temperatures, but the reality is that for at least sixteen years, the Earth has been in a cooling cycle and is likely to continue to cool for decades to come. (2)
This is the same group that was awarded a Nobel Prize along with Al Gore. And speaking of Al Gore, he also played very loose with the real facts in his award-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. Christopher Monckton itemized 35 'inconvenient truths' in the documentary. (3) As the result of a lawsuit in England, teachers have to make clear that the film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument. (4) In response to Gore's film, Nashville talk-radio host Phil Valentine has created a documentary, An Inconsistent Truth, a riposte to An Inconvenient Truth. This is Valentine's odyssey to find the truth about so called man-made global warming. As the title suggests, this is an answer to Al Gore's film. It's a rebuttal in the Michael Moore mode with interviews with leading scientific experts on the 'skeptic' side as well as many common folks. Valentine camps outside Al Gore's mansion in Tennessee with the hope of an interview but regardless of his patience comes away empty handed. The film drives home the fact that a big lie foisted on the public is that there is a consensus on the issue. Gore claims the IPCC is made up of 3,000 scientists from around the world, all in complete agreement. This point is driven home a number of times, but importantly as Valentine shows, there is no consensus. Far from it.

All of the climate models predicting catastrophic global warming have been dead wrong. Some other points made:
  1. polar bears are not dying off
  2. sea ice all over the globe is not melting away
  3. CO2 is not a pollutant
  4. even though CO2 levels have been increasing, global temperatures have not been rising
This is a film well worth seeing. My only complaint is I wish there had been more coverage of the rest of the world and its increasing emissions of 'carbon' to show how hopeless it is to attempt to reduce emissions. Worldwide, almost 1,200 coal-fired plants are in the planning stages, and over three-quarters are to be built in China and India. To put this in perspective, China and India are planning to build over 60% more coal-fired capacity than the coal-fired capacity that currently exists in the United States. (5) Once Obama's plan goes into effect and another 204 coal-fired plants are shut down in the US, this figure of 60% will be over 100%, double the current coal-fired capacity that presently exists in the USD, and that isn't counting capacity that is already in existence worldwide. So all this business about reducing emissions is just hot-air talk. References
