The Bitter Pill

Nothing Is Free, Not Even ObamaCare

There is NO free lunch. That is a truism with which my entire generation grew up.
I was born at the tail end of the Great Depression and spent my formative years in a family -- and society -- that had been rudely dealt with by the inexplicable vagaries of the local, national, and global economy. Families that made it through the Depression still intact had learned many valuable lessons. Among them: You can never fully trust the government. Rely on yourself. Nothing is free. Take nothing for granted. Never quit. The price of something does not necessarily reflect the value -- nor the cost.

These lessons were passed on to my generation.  And we used them to build a nation unlike any other the world has ever known.  We even spread our wings to nearby planets.  The US flag stands proudly on a dusty off-white lunar plain.  The wreckage of our space exploring vehicles dot the planets of our galaxy. Another just lifted off for Mars the day before I wrote these words. We Americans ARE a breed apart.  Our forefathers  founded a nation for the sole purpose of providing a place where men from all over the world could bring their dreams and see them to fruition, or at least make a hell of a try at fulfilling them. We did it all while fighting off those who lusted after our national treasure.  We've fought a running battle with those who wish to strip us of our freedom,  ofttimes in our own government. We've found it necessary to defend our freedom a number of times globally and on a few occasions found it in our interest to defend the freedom of other countries as well. And we fight a continuing battle (a war really) with those who understand that our individual freedom stands as a living example for all the people of the planet as to what a nation is supposed to be, how a nation is supposed to protect the freedom and liberty of its citizens.  That makes the US a threat to to tyranny everywhere and creates a long line of enemies who would like nothing more than the complete destruction of America --if possible -- at their hands.  We've withstood all of this for around 250 years. But, as is the case with all people who grow comfortable, we've become lax in vigilance toward our own government.  While our attention has been elsewhere our government has become bloated, over powerful, overbearing, and a threat to the very freedom that gave it life in the first place. Marxists have moved silently into the highest levels of the US government.  Under cover of the name "Progressive" they have fostered an agenda of government growth, and the reduction of individual freedom for Americans. The Progressive/Marxist goal is , as some have referred to it ... "unbridled federal power." "The bitter pill that is ObamaCare" is not now, nor has it ever been, about healthcare.  It is about control of the American people.   We are only just now beginning to feel the cost of this socialist program.  As we said above -- nothing is free.  ObamaCare will cost us dearly in money and in freedom.  I will issue this warning once again:  ObamaCare is not the endgame of the Progressives in Congress.  A single payer national insurance is what they are after with total control of your life by the government.  Doubt me, if you dare, but very soon now such a program will be proposed as a "replacement" for the irreparable ObamaCare.  ObamaCare was never the Progressive/Marxist end game.  It was, and is, the portal, the launching pad, if you will, for a single payer socialized medicine program for America.  Listen carefully for the words "Repeal and Replace."   Replace Obamacare with what?  A single payer healthcare program.  Nothing is free.  Only a fool believes such tripe.  As America is only just learning, ObamaCare is NOT FREE.  Its cost cannot be measured in dollars and cents alone. But it CAN be measured in the loss of freedom and liberty.  But beware, gentle reader, ObamaCare is bad, but a single payer form of healthcare is much, much worse.  It will completely destroy America if ObamaCare doesn't beat it to the draw.
