DENVER, -- Heather Surovik, sponsor of Colorado's Amendment 67, was featured on the Emmy award-winning daytime television program "The Doctors." The program aired Friday on CBS.
Invited to share her story with television viewers, Heather began the interview by sharing the tragic death of her unborn baby, Brady Paul, at the hands of a drunk driver just days before she was to go into labor. Heather continued to explain that no charges were filed against the driver for Brady's death because he was not considered a person, and concluded with her story of hope to change Colorado law. "I had to plan a funeral for a baby that I never got to meet. I had to tear down the nursery...I want to be an advocate for other pregnant mothers so they don't have to go through what I went through," Heather told the panel of three doctors on the show.

Heather's efforts through Amendment 67 will correct problems in Colorado's current laws, and protect every unborn child in Colorado. The question to be put before voters on the November 2014 ballot will state: "Shall there be an amendment to the Colorado constitution protecting pregnant women and unborn children by defining 'person' and 'child' in the Colorado criminal code and the Colorado wrongful death act to include unborn human beings?" Colorado State Senator Owen Hill was a guest on the show as well, sharing his perspective as a Colorado legislator: "I have a strong moral duty to close this loophole and make sure there is fair and equal protection under the law." "We are so thankful to CBS and The Doctors television program for their compassion and caring for Heather and Brady," Jennifer Mason said in a statement for A Voice for Brady's Yes on 67 Campaign. "The Doctors' comments indicated that they recognized that unborn children have value and are worth defending, and their kindness made it a safe place for Heather to be a Voice for Brady." Heather Surovik, A Voice for Brady, and Personhood USA are working to protect pregnant women and their unborn children in Colorado through Amendment 67.
