When a President and his policies are popular, you can count on one thing. He'll be in demand for the Midterm campaigns. Everyone is looking for a little extra bump in the polls, so if you're a Democrat trying to unseat a powerful incumbent, you want all the help you can get. Of course that's if you have a popular Commander in Chief. Dems, sadly, do not.
In Kentucky, Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes is trying her best to take Mitch McConnell's job. Yesterday, on MSNBC, she was asked if she'd like to have Obama come in and lend a hand.
For the record, no. She would not.
"Now I want to ask you about President Barack Obama." A reporter asked. "Would you want him to come down and campaign for you?"
After what even MSNBC called a split second "deer in the headlights" moment, Grimes replied "This race is about putting the people of this state first, and I speak for myself and I don't need anybody to do that."
That's weird, because this afternoon - just one day after this interview - Bill Clinton flew in to stump for her. We're sure it's all just a misunderstanding and, like all Democrats, she's a fan of the President and supports his federal agenda. Right?
Wrong.... "I stand in stark contrast to the President in many of his ideas and platforms," she added.
Ouch.
