Joni Ernst, you've made my day

All the best GOP campaign commercials contain the words 'castrating hogs'

“I grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm, so when I get to Washington, I’ll know how to cut pork.”

That's the message from Joni Ernst, a Republican running for Senate in the great state of Iowa. Ernst is a mother of three, served as an Iowa National Guard battalion commander in Iraq, and yes, knows how to castrate hogs. Today, she released a campaign spot designed to grab the spotlight and separate her from the rest of the Iowa field. Mission accomplished. According to Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, “She’s pro-life, she’s great on the Second Amendment, and she’s been a very successful county official and now state senator. She’s got a great personal story. And we’ve never elected a woman to the Senate from our state.” She's been endorsed by Mitt Romney, thinks Ted Cruz has done a "great job," and the look on her face when she tells you how she grew up is utterly priceless. As she says in her spot, she wants to head to D.C. "because Washington’s full of big spenders. Let’s make ‘em squeal!” We're sure the left will do everything in their power to portray this woman as some kind of idiot yokel, since she's had a real job and knows how to do things, but we think she makes a heck of a first impression. You have our attention, Ms. Ernst.
