We have a lot of Sarah Palin fans around here, and I'm one of them, so you'll really enjoy this:
So much to like about this. First, it's nice to see that Jimmy Fallon departs from the Hollywood conventional wisdom in seeing Palin as something other than an object of ridicule. Also, Fallon was pretty darn funny as Putin.
Not to mention, Fallon is astute enough to notice that Palin, and definitely not Obama, was able to foresee Putin's real nature at a time when the left and their media partners were mocking her as a foreign policy ignoramus.
And of course, it's a refreshing to us as it is confounding to the Beltway crowd that Palin is willing to have a little fun, not so much at her own expense in this case as she comes off pretty well in the segment, but at the expense of what I guess some would say is the "gravitas" needed to become president, as if anyone has failed to notice by now that she really doesn't care.
Let's not make more of it than it is. It's just a sketch on a late-night comedy show, and Palin is hardly the first political figure to take part in one of those. But I do love how it affirms in so many ways that Palin's wisdom can only be the object of mockery for so long, because eventually it tends to be proven correct.
Way to go, Governor! Oh, and Vladimir, about Alaska? Yeah. I wouldn't try it.
