Democrat House candidate: NRA members are 'pure trash' with 'very low I.Q.s'

Everyone, meet Virginia Democrat Mike Dickinson. He's a little known anti-gun lefty currently running for the House of Representatives in VA's 7th district. The seat is held by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. While Cantor is facing a weak primary opponent, virtually everyone expects the seat to remain safely in his hands.
Still, despite having almost no chance of winning, Dickinson has decided to take a shot at Cantor's brass ring. How will he overcome what are nearly insurmountable odds, you ask? He'll do it by endearing himself to his constituents, that's how. To that end, he took to Twitter this weekend in an effort to let potential voters know what he thinks of them.

I'm not going to waste my time refuting all of this. It's pretty obvious that everyone should "get off" Mr. Dickinson's train, because it's headed on a one-way ride to crazy town. So, instead, let's take a look at how will this play in the district he's trying to win. Here's the map:

Uh-oh. That district has voted Republican in every election - save one Senate race in 2008 - for decades. It's consistently had a Republican representative since 1971. Not a friendly map for a Democrat who's decided to launch his campaign by telling people he doesn't want their support. Have fun losing, Mr. Dickinson. Here's hoping that the rest of the nation's Democrats follow your lead. This "new civility" thing is a big winner.
