Promises the employer mandate will be enforced....someday

Pelosi suggests Robert Gibbs is bashing ObamaCare to please mysterious 'clients'

Last week, we brought you the story of a speech in which former Press Secretary Robert Gibbs suggested that the ObamaCare employer mandate would never see the light of day. According to Gibbs, it's unwieldy, unworkable, and - despite being touted as a central pillar of the ACA - not all that important. He believes that, somewhere along the way, it will be quietly killed.
As usual, Nancy Pelosi sees thing just a bit differently. The woman who claims that she has an anonymous “Republican friend" who tells her "Republicans don't care about starving children" is now using her exotic powers of speculation on Robert Gibbs. If she is to be believed (and she almost never is) Gibbs may be trashing ObamaCare in order to please his "clients." "I don't know who his clients are or what his perspective is," Pelosi told CNN's State of the Union. "But we are celebrating the fact that we have over seven million who have signed up." The implication, of course, is that no one could possibly suggest that ObamaCare is anything less than a panacea unless they were getting paid to make that case. As always, the "7 million" line is little more than a fabrication, but we'd better get used to hearing it - especially from Nancy. Pelosi offered no evidence to support her suggestion that Gibbs may be tarnishing ObamaCare's sterling reputation in an effort to appease his mysterious puppet masters.

When pressed on Gibbs' comments, she went back to her context-free numerical well: “I don’t know why we’re focusing on that,” she mused. “One person says one thing. Seven million people signed up.” Clearly, she enjoys hearing herself repeat things, whether they're true or not. It was surprising that she didn't launch back into her ridiculous "Affordable, Affordable, Affordable, Affordable, Affordable" routine. Instead, she reiterated the "fact" that Democrats are proud of what they've accomplished, they are not running away from it, and it's going to be a big positive in November. Democrats, she claims are embracing the affordable care act and running on its many, many, merits. If you come across any Dems who are "less than enthusiastic" about their legislative mill stone, you should treat them as anecdotal outliers.
