Aston Workshop, the Aston Martin specialist in Durham, is collaborating with a leading local artist to celebrate its 25thanniversary.
Kevin Day from Newcastle has produced a series of 15 original oil paintings along with charcoals and limited edition prints that include classic and modern models including the famous DB4, DB5 and DB6, onto the modern super-car era. The exhibition entitled ‘Precious Metals' will be on display in the main reception of the Aston Workshop, Red Row, Beamish, Co. Durham, DH9 0RW from October 4 (preview) to October 17. “His work really stands out, it’s really different,” says Dean Newsome from Aston Workshop. “He produced a painting for one of our customers and we approached him. Before this project he had never actually painted cars before.”

He adds: “Kevin's work can best be described as figurative narrative and he is renowned for capturing the mood of the moment, a style which we believe adds a whole new dimension to the world of Aston Martin art. While the cars undoubtedly figure prominently in each painting, they are not the only point of interest and your eye is quickly drawn to the exquisite detail of the painting as a whole and the narrative reaches far beyond that of normal automotive art. The result is a series of paintings featuring Aston Martin cars with a completely new slant. Make no mistake, this is a major series of paintings and it's a real pleasure for Aston workshop to be involved in something as fresh and exciting.” He concludes: “As a company we are always looking for new ways to promote the Aston Martin brand around the globe, and we're sure that these paintings will be of great interest to art lovers in general as well as members of the Aston fraternity.” www.artistkevday.co.uk Art exhibition: June 21 to September, 2014 Summer Show featuring the work of David Howell, Maureen Davies, Jake Winkle, Ann Armitage, Norman Smith, Christina Meade, Teresa Lawton, Harry Brioche, Marcus Hodge, Soraya French, Gareth Parry, Mike Bernard, Luke Piper, Julia Cassels and John Bathgate.
