London and Affordable Art Fairs help gallery expand market

London and Affordable Art Fairs.
Two avenues that are helping a Hampshire gallery owner expand his market for selling contemporary paintings. Three years ago Lawson Bell, owner of Bell Fine Art in Parchment Street, Winchester, signed a joint venture with Andrew Stark of Stark Gallery in Canterbury, to operate Store Street Gallery. Located in Bloomsbury, it sits in one of London’s most affluent and prestigious areas. “Bell Fine Art has been trading in Hampshire for three decades but links with London have become ever more crucial,” explains Lawson, a strong supporter of the Affordable Art Fairs (AAF). Bell Fine Art was one of the first galleries to exhibit its artists at the AAF in Battersea 15 years ago. Store Street Gallery now also exhibits its artists at AAF as well as internationally in Brussels, New York, and Stockholm.

“AAFs are a great way of marketing our artists and introducing them to a new market,” Lawson says, adding Bell Fine Art will be exhibiting at the Battersea Affordable Art Fair 23-26 October. Developing their online presence Lawson and Andrew set up londoncontemporaryart.co.uk. This is a company dealing in art created by carefully chosen artists from around the world. We supply artwork to selected galleries for exhibition, interior design companies with site specific work and changing displays to private members clubs, hospitals and businesses in London." LCA exhibits at a number of art fairs in the UK and North America. London Contemporary Art will be at the AAF show in Bristol 19-21 September. Store Street Gallery will be exhibiting at the prestigious LAPADA Berkeley Square art and antiques fair Sept 24-28 and the AAF Stockholm October 2-5..............so a busy few months coming up.
