Border, Ukraine, Middle East - all apparently 'not alarming'

WH says fundraising will continue because changing Obama's schedule could 'alarm the American people'

Over the last two weeks, President Obama has been roundly criticized - from the right and the left - for his relentless fundraising. Rather than visit the border, discuss the issue, or do anything about it, he spent valuable time playing pool and begging for cash. People suddenly noticed that the photo-ops, which Obama claims are uninteresting, are apparently very important to the commander in chief.
Now, he's set to take another three days to gather up more filthy lucre for the Democrat party. This time he'll be making stops amid the friendly territory of the left coast, from Seattle down to San Francisco, and finally to Los Angeles. Once again, people have begun to wonder just what the heck is going on. The border is still in chaos, the situation in Ukraine continues to heat up, and the missile sirens are still blaring in Israel. For any other President, even one of those would probably be enough to make them reconsider a gaudy cash-grab. All three at once should convince even the most aloof chief executive that his time might be better spent in Washington. Fortunately, Obama is not just any President. He understands that the American people are like a fearful pride of feral cats. Any sudden move could cause untold panic. So, out of the goodness of his heart, he's going to bravely soldier on and attend those fundraisers. It's not that he wants to, mind you. He wants you to have the peace of mind only can only be delivered by his presence at a Democrat pledge drive.

He's doing it ...for you. As White House Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri told the New York Times:
“It is rarely a good idea to return to the White House just for show, when the situation can be handled responsibly from the road,” said Jennifer Palmieri, the White House communications director. “Abrupt changes to his schedule can have the unintended consequence of unduly alarming the American people or creating a false sense of crisis.”
A 'false sense' of crisis? God forbid the President get worked up. People might get the crazy notion that the myriad global crises currently facing the planet were worth worrying about. If you think all of this sounds utterly ridiculous, you're right. It's completely idiotic. President selfie is as detached and disinterested as ever, and they'll use any excuse to make it seem as though "inaction" is a synonym for "measured response." Frankly, no one should care if Obama's in Washington or not. The less time he spends trying to advance his agenda, the better. However, if he'sgoing to blow off a collapsing world in favor of fundraising, he shouldn't try to pretend he's doing it in an effort to calm his "subjects." It just makes him sound stupid. Heck, not even the gang at MSNBC is buying it. They appear below.
