Washington, DC – Liberty Counsel is pleased to welcome Christians in Defense of Israel into the Liberty Counsel family! Comprised of over 90,000 supporters of Israel, Christians in Defense of Israel is built on Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you” (NKJV). Before the merger with Christians in Defense of Israel, Liberty Counsel already had over 150,000 supporters of Israel in its own Israel program.
“There has never been a more important time for Christians and Jews to stand in solidarity with Israel and its right to exist as a sovereign nation,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel.
“Israel and America share a common bond through our history, heritage, and faith. Along with our shared common values, Israel and America also share common threats. We are comforted and assured by the Scriptures that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is not intimidated by adversity. We urge Christians throughout the country to stand in solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters and the nation of Israel,” said Staver.
Christians in Defense of Israel was founded by Dr. Ed Hindson, who is Dean of the School of Religion at Liberty University, Distinguished Professor of Religion, and the Dean of the Institute of Biblical Studies. Dr. Hindson and Mat Staver, who is also Dean of Liberty University School of Law, have been friends for many years. “Dr. Ed Hindson and I share a strong passion for Israel,” said Staver. “I am honored that Dr. Hindson has entrusted Christians in Defense of Israel to Liberty Counsel. Combining the more than 90,000 people in Christians in Defense of Israel with the more than 150,000 supporters of Israel that Liberty Counsel already has in its own Israel initiative will make a formidable support base for Israel and the Jewish people. There could not be a better time than now to support Israel,” said Staver.
Dr. Hindson will remain involved in Christians in Defense of Israel throughout the rest of the year. Christians in Defense of Israel will continue to provide many of Dr. Hindson’s writings for its membership and will retain its name and combine the 240,000 or more people between both constituencies. “I am excited that Christians in Defense of Israel is now a Liberty Counsel ministry. We plan to expand the outreach and support for Israel,” concluded Staver.
